Nice blog as always Jason but who cares, what the hell is Lombardi thinking with the Kopitar negotiations? Earlier reports were money was agreed upon and the nuts and bolts were being worked out. Now Dean wants Anze to take a lot less so the team can sign Lucic? C'mon, Lucic is a nice player but Kopitar is the franchise. |

Says who? Elliote Friedman and "Puck Daddy" do not speak for Lombardi. Show me a quote from Dean saying that he's expecting Kopitar to take a pay cut. It's media speculating on an otherwise slow hockey news day to drum up website hits.
Kopitar will be an LA King next season, and he will get paid. Max term, more money than Malkin, less than Toews and Kane. My guess is that Lombardi will even make an exception to his normally strict no-trade clause policy. |

Is it possible that there is a deal in place that will be done after this season so other players on the team like Lucic don't do the math and worry about their future with the team? Just a thought |

You know all of this 'how'? There isn't a universe where Lucic is holding up the Kopitar deal. Worst case, Lucic was always going to be a rental who'd have motivation because he was going to be a UFA. Dean, as a GM, is probably concerned primarily about the cap hit on Kopitar's deal. That's his job, which he's really good at as history has proven. |

Thanks for bringing Dowd to the forefront Jason. He is not nearly as hyped by the fans as most other Kings prospects, but he is one of the most talented players the Kings have in the AHL, and in my mind as a season ticket holder at Ontario, the most ready to make the jump outside of Mersch, who already has. He is a solid, smart hockey player, is an excellent puck distributor and has great vision. While he will never be a big goal scorer, he is solid in the face-off circle, is defensively responsible, and makes players around him better. He could be a solid 3rd or 4th line center. He is older due to his college years, but for a 7th rounder, he is a potential diamond in the rough.

Anze Kopitar's 8-year, $80M ($10M AAV) contract with LAK is, finally, in final stages of paperwork. So not officially "done" but very close.

Kopitar will get a NMC I believe this is the final sticking point. |

I will certainly post something when it is finalised.
I hate writing something on a subject that is "In flux" because it makes for an endless cycle of edits and updates that everyone else is constantly updating.
Trust me, something will be up when it is final. |

I don't play the lotto. I've bought exactly one ticket in my life on my 18th birthday to celebrate adulthood. If I'm going to gamble, I'd prefer to spend my money on that realistically have a chance, like Kings to win the Stanley Cup this season at 13/2. |

More like Elliott Friedman, I was just commenting on what he said and he's generally reliable. Great signing by the Kings! Kopitar locked down for 8 years is a great thing, depending on the NMC that is. |

Honestly I have bought 1 ticket and that was yesterday. Other than that I do not play. I don't like wasting my money on something that isnt realistic. This will most likely be my one and only. |
