The Jets are a bit of a strange team/organization to me, in that Chevy seems to draft fairly well, they have some good players with size and they're well coached....but....they've seemingly taken a step back when they should be moving forward.

IMO most good teams have depth and talent at center, do the Jets...no. Most good teams also have that all-important first pairing dman, do the Jets, debatable if you lose Byfuglien.

Their goaltending is solid enough. So this whole constructability issue may just have some legs? Five years with Chevy at the helm I'd expect their results to be better considering he had the 7th & 9th overall picks his first two years.

Chevy's high point was when he traded Kane for Myers ...everyone thought he was a wizzard. Since them it's all gone South

get a goalie that can steal you games, Pavs sucks, Hutch is a meh back up and hellebuyck isn't ready to be a starter.

I don't think Hellebuyck is the issue. It's what's going on in front him that is.

Brutal, uninspired and lackadaisical play.

Dont subject himself to that then, getting shelled most nights bc the team is a dumpster fire at the moment isn't the best thing for his development,

Put him in the AHL for the rest of the year and let him win games and get his confidence back up for next year.

Try to pick up Reimer, a combo of him and Hellebuyck next year to start the season will be much better than Pavs/Hutch/Hellebuyck rotation

TL;dr - The Jets are a mess. Management needs to grow a pair and get crap done.

I think we need to keep Buff, but Ladd can go.

Winnipeg is the type of market that needs communication from TNSE to the fans. It doesn't have to be a daily recount of what management did to improve the team... but for the love of all that is good and pure, the silence is deafening. Aside from puff pieces in Winnipeg newspapers that explain "Boy, Chipman didn't realize how tough player negotiation was gonna be!", and the odd in-between period Chevy interview where we hear how "It's a process" for the million-th time, we get nothing of substance. Zilch. Zero.

Wanna know why the Jets are under performing? Because there's a cloud hanging over the team... what happens to Ladd and Buff pretty much dictates the direction the team is headed in, and every player on that team wants (needs) to know what it is... and yeah, special teams yadda yadda...

It's a mess. Is Chevy incompetent? Is Chipman sticking his nose into everything?? I dunno, but if everyone thinks that this is all gonna be resolved by Auston Matthews, they're dreaming. This is management incompetence on an Edmonton Oilers - Kevin Lowe level... and as demonstrated by the Oilers, all the high draft picks in the world can't make up for crap management.

My gawd... don't even get me STARTED on the poor Moose...

P.S. - sorry if I regurgitated some or most of your piece here Peter... I just let it flow...

Normally, I'd agree with you 110%, but the Moose are dead last in the AHL (as well!), and are getting shelled nightly... their last five games:

6-2 loss
4-0 loss
6-2 loss
6-3 loss
3-2 OT loss

Eric Comrie is a lights out goalie, and even he can't steal a game for those poor souls down in the 'A'... putting 'Buck back down in the AHL wouldn't be such a different change of scenery for him, unfortunately.

I think there is a plan here that is "working" in the sense of loading up with prospects but in a hockey market they have not done well communicating it. I don't want to fire the coach , Chevy is a very good GM. Stay the course.

As far as the Moose, they took advantage of a hickey market and went all young.

Craig Heizinger has a lifetime contract and will NEVER be let go, conversely not sure any other team would hire him.... So there is that! Lol

But Hellebuyck in the AHL, Comrie playing too much as well.

Trade Ladd, Stewart and if you have to Buff at the last minute.

I was at the Carolina game - 12 rows up from 'canes attack zone - - Helle can certainly take some of the blame !

Maybe this whole 'draft n develop' will take 10 yrs ? I don't know but that game spelt it out for me - problems with GM, Coach, and Players - all in ... the team wasn't ready to play that night (Coach), we don;t yet have the right players (GM), players we do have don;t show every night (Players)

Lemme tell ya - I bought $185 tickets for $60 a piece ... and - there were plenty of empty seats around (bought and paid for ? probably - but empty !)

The Colorado game - bounce back ... we'll certainly know more after tomorrow night

Watch us royally f#ck this up and win out - missing playoffs and missing a good lottery pick
