I don't think there is any way they trade Pacioretty. He's on a cost effective deal. That said, I'd happily trade Kessel for him. |

so Pacioretty, the player, is loyal to the lame duck coach? that's why they don't move him? you realize that makes no sense at all right? |

Montreal needs offence , call Patioretty soft or lacks character but he's the best weapon they currently have followed by Gallagher. Trading him won't solve MTL's scoring issues. - Alexzanki
and is his trade value any lower at this point? |

weren't they first for like three weeks? |

I think the Jets have the Golden Goose of this year's deadline. I don't know why you don't hold on to him as long as you can and create a bidding war. Some team that thinks they're close will sacrifice something of an "overpayment" to get themselves over the hump.
The Jets could do very well here. |

Elite goaltending takes you a long way...just goes to show Carey Price is the glue that hold this team together

Do you think the Habs need to tear this down and start over?
ideally no. when you have a league MVP goalie and a legit #1 stud like Subban coming into their prime you don't start over. hardest thing to acquire in hockey are gamebreakers and here you've got 2. but you also can't just do nothing like Marc Bergevin has and expect to grow. you're either growing or you're dying, there's no third direction. if Bergevin can't pick a direction, they need to get him out of there and insert someone with a bit more conviction and guts.
as for Pacioretty, you don't trade him unless you're blowing it up, or you're trading him the way Dallas traded Loui Eriksson. but if Bergevin has proven one thing, it's that he's not capable of making those moves.
