if you are going to keep calling them the 'jax' to save a syllable, start calling the sabres the 'sabs'. in the interest of fairness

There are no longer any 10 year contracts Garth. Eight year max for teams resigning their own players, seven year max new teams. Facts are good

pretty amazing that Ovie's 13 yr deal has proven to be a smart deal for Caps. Still producing and never had to go through this drama. Meanwhile Stamkos nowhere near what he was 4 yrs aago

I love how it's okay for you to advertise trolling the Tampa Twitter feed, but we get our comments deleted from your thread.

Exactly. The jackass needs to learn how to research:

Whew, so glad Garth convinced Murray to trade a pick that became Colin White, who could be the third freshman ever to win the Hobey Baker for a random replacement level goalie. Keep up the good work.

I like Stamkos. But he is not worth 10 million per year. A 8-yr deal for that kind of money would be an albatross around this team's neck, like Vinny Lecavalier's old contract.

If he won't resign at a discount, let him walk. There are at least a dozen teams in the league that would be happy to overpay him.

Interesting Garth's comments on MSL and Yzerman. Fact or Fiction?

Stamkos is easily worth $10M per season for many teams since it is difficult to draft and develop that good a player. Stamkos has not had great linemates since MSL so not surprised that numbers have dropped off.

I believe it will be Yzerman's worst GM mistakes to let Stamkos walk for nothing.

Stevie Y is no dummy. He won't pay $80 million for Stamkos. He's not worth it. Let him get $70 million from Toronto, and become a pariah in his hometown. The Lightning will be just fine without 91. They'll just keep more of their talent going forward...maybe someone who is willing to play on the wing if it helps the team.

If I was Stammer, I'd take $64 million and golf after practice in an inexpensive, low-tax state, followed by a lifetime of employment with the organization he spent his entire career with. But I'm not Stammer.

We all know he will be a Leaf . Quite happy he won't be a Sabre. Good player but the contract it will take to sign him is going to handcuff whoever signs him down the road and they will not be able to make more moves.

Unless he signs with Buffalo whereas you will sing your GM's praises and defend the contract as a bargain. I know how you work.

There you go . Stirring that misery pot . Not how I work . But just make up your facts to fit your agenda . We are deep at centers . Wherever he goes he is going to want to play center. Rather develop ours at a far lesser price. But fabricate away. That is what you do. LMAO

I know I will get a lot of chit for saying this, but Stamkos's next contract will be a albatross around his next team's neck. Huge money, long term, diminishing returns.

Stammer has not been the same player after breaking his leg, and he's getting worse.

Yes, he's still a top talent in the league, but his value is decreasing. He'll be a above average player in 4-5 years, not a superstar, but he'll be making 10 Million a year.

58 GP 44 pts. C'mon he's not worth anywhere near the money!

Can't say that I disagree with this. If he could be had for less maybe, but 10 million just isn't his value any longer. So glad Murray didn't trade Jack for him.
