Although they are touch matchups, having 5 games against the two teams in front of them is a good thing. A chance for a real big swing in the standings. |

I think it's pretty clear at this point in the season what this team is why effect then next 5-10 years because of this one year it just isn't worth it at all. We aren't twenty games in they are going to show us something they haven't already they will stay afloat and it just won't be enough might as well move a body or two to help the long term success of the franchise by getting assets and perhaps sliding in the standings a bit to get a higher first round pick. I'll take that every day of the week over getting thumped in the first round or just missing and doing the exact same the next year. They just aren't ready yet and that's fine they have grossly exceeded expectations on the year and that's a win. |

I would Sell on Stempniak, but I'd consider just signing Schlemko to an extension if I were Shero. I've liked both guys, but I think Schlemko really shores up the bottom pairing for us and he's young enough that he's not likely to decline on you anytime soon. If someone gives you a ridiculous offer, sure, take it, but he shouldn't be dealt for a 3rd rounder that's not likely to ever amount to anything in my opinion.

I'm a stand-up guy so I'll admit you were right last week. I think I said, "...if they lose the next four they should sell" but it only took two. Lol, now I'm on board with a fire sale. |

I think the post below yours sums it up best.
The problem with being behind this late is with the amount of games between eastern conference teams there's sure to be a bunch of three point games, etc. look on the bright side, with all the teams trailing us with games in hand and the strength of the upcoming schedule, we may just get that top 10 pick after all. |

The best of both worlds would be having the team play well most of the year providing competitive entertaining hockey, making moves for additional picks, then getting a top 10 pick. I would poop my pants if we somehow got 1st pick. We would take good care of the lad over here.
Man, if Shero could somehow trade up or package someone and get us another 1st rounder this would be a great year to do it.
I watched that draft day movie the other day, even though it was football it got me all pumped up for Shero to make some moves |

Well it's a shame Camm's is injured, he probably would have gotten the best haul. Did you all see the Kovy rumors? My opinion is keep him out of the NHL, screw him. |

Saw he left his KHL team. As far as I understand, he would have to be approved by every GM or sit out a year of pro hockey or wait until he is 35. Really doubt every GM would give the OK, and if he came back to NJ you know Bettman would call it circumvention and try to punish the team after he gave back the 1st round pick. |

At this point I really don't feel one way or another about him. Had he have stuck around that contract would have absolutely murdered us with the cap recapture or being forced to have a 7 million cap hit for him from the time he was 38 until 42. |

Took me a few times before I realized neither seconds are this year but still a solid haul. |

If we could of managed to win a cup in that span then I say it would of been worth it but that's kind of hard to gauge lol |

He seems to be doing well in Toronto but I guess he was still thinking NJ could compete so he never went in rebuild mode in NJ? What happened with him and NJ? He was a solid GM for a bit but I guess the loss of Parise & Kovalchuk was just too much to bear |

Who the devils realistically trade though? Stempniak? All the other guys on the roster are signed to decent deals are are still pretty young. - tomburton99
Schlemko has produced on the PP and could be an upgrade on a few teams, if Shero could pull a 2nd for Stempniak and a 3rd for Schlemko I'd be happy.
And there's always Tuomo Ruutu |

In the words of Mortimer Duke "Get back in there at once and SELL, SELL, SELL"... Assuming Shero can find deals that are worthwhile.
