I figured this was coming. I was REALLY surprised last night when the penalty called was on Perron, and Landeskog didn't get one for that hit. I'm not saying it was dirty or intentional, just that it looks really bad on the replay (from both angles). |

Call up Rantanen now, cant afford to have Martinsen or Skile in the Top 9
3 was the number I thought Landy would get, sucks, but wasnt a smart play by him |

3 games... not ideal but he should of been smarter. If we call up rantanen, after 3 games does he say or go back?

I'm not sure. I think it all depends if he played a total of 21 games. But I'm not sure if that is just for start of season or spread trough out |

Is it 21 games now? I thought it was 11, but that's a number I heard way back when Wolski was new. |

Realistically I dont think they call up Rants, I cant see them burning a level of his ELC just to be a filler for 3 games during Landys suspension.
Everberg might make sense though if hes healthy |

This could work out pretty well for the club's mental state. I figured after the big win against the Ducks, we'd see a letdown game against the Jets. However, now we have a cause to rally around and keep us focused. |

Grigo Dutch Iggy
Matthias Soderberg Martinsen
McLeod Mitchell Skille
I think thats what they roll with into Winnipeg. Jets, Canucks, Flames, Oilers in the next 4. They need to pick up 6 out of 8 points in those games. Landy is out against weaker teams so have to step up and not play down to their opponent |

I havent looked at the numbers, but would the Avs EVER move Grigo to C and Dutch to W. It seemed like Dutch was scoring a little more as a W and Grigo just keeps chugging along wherever they put him. |

Barrie was suspended 3 games earlier this season for a high hit on despres too. Avs just do not like that guy apparently |

Seems like the likely combos. Maybe even swap Everberg for Martinsen. And as a crazy outside the box idea: Put Gelinas on that third line. He's played some forward before in NJ. |

Everberg would be better on that 3rd line, I actually didn't mind Martinsen on the 4th, seemed more ideal that him.
just don't know if Berg is healthy right now or not, I havent been following the Rampage the last few weeks |

True, if berg wanted to show why he is worth keeping in the big club he will have to play his butt off, but I agree keep rantanen down this year and pair him up straight away with dutchy or mack in training camp. But next four are huge, must wins. I can see Pickard possibly starting in van or Edmonton. Keep Varly fresh. But exciting times for avs! I'm really liking mathesis and boedker pick up. TheyRe looking really good! |

I agree, Boeds and Matthias really fit into the current mix of forwards and Roys vision of the Roster. I think they keep Matthias first and figure out how to make Boeds work cap wise.
Landy Mack Rantanen
Grigo Dutch Iggy or Boeds
Matthias Soderberg Comeau
To me thats what it all comes down to, if Iggy is on the team or not next year. If he is no Boeds, if he wants to move on, I think they resign Boedker.
However it just depends what he wants for a contract, if they can sign him to 4.5m aav, you gotta find room and make it work |

If we can get matthias for 3 st 2.5 to 3 per I would do it. He really solidifys the "third" line. With rantanen coming up to I'm curious to see what the avs do... they could trade iggy...doubt it... but that opens a spot up. Boedker I think will want a 6 for 6. Too much for avs to pay especially with picks barrie and mac k needing to be signed. But great to see our core getting locked up, pieces coming up from the minors and complementary players being signed to great movable contracts if needed.
Oh and a big win for the Oilers! Boom!

Might be a little too much for Matthias but I think its in that range, just around the 2.2m range again is fine for him. What he is making now is ideal contract for guys l ke him. Same as comeau at 2.4m Cant overspend on third line guys but I do agree he really solidifies that line.
Thats why I think his extension will get done, makes sense. Boedker comes down to what Iggy wants and what the Cap is going to be at. I don't think he will be getting or asking 6x6m. He did say its not about the money but the winning before he left Arizona, so if he has a fit and Avs make playoffs, who knows what he will actually want. Over 5m for him I think its just too much for a non core guy especially with Iggy still kicking around.
This offseason will be a fun one, lots of questions with the roster but will get clear long term direction out of them.

The key to this team's financial future is what happens with the MacKinnon and Barrie signings. Two key points to consider:
1.) If they sign long-term it will seem like a discount cap hit later on because the cap and salaries keep increasing for all skill-level players. Anyone ever think Kane/Toews would get $10.5 million a year a couple seasons ago? The cap used to be $39 million.
2.) MacKinnon and Barrie can both sign bridge deals and make up for it with a gentleman's agreement that when the Iginla, Beauchemin, and even Stuart money comes off the books that money transfers in to their bigger long-term contracts.
Love to see MacKinnon take a bridge deal at $4 million for 1 or 2 years and have Barrie sign a bridge deal at $5 million for 1 or 2 years. If these boys can see the light and realize they can better help the team financially it goes a long ways in producing a better overall team. Lots of guys miss endorsement opportunities because they chase the base salary. If your on a consistent winner and your "name" is worth something, endorsement deals can be a huge paycheck for some guys.

I find it hard to believe that Boedker thinks he's going to get a big payday this summer. He hasn't produced much and the cap isn't going up. Him and his agent know that he'll never do better than what Arizona offered him. That makes me think that he turned down the contract because he wants to get out of Arizona.
Coyotes are starting another rebuild and won't be competing for a cup for a few years, the relocation rumors are never going to go away, and now the way they dealt with John Scott has rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. I think it's reasonable that a player in his late 20's who's been in that situation is ready to move on.
Money will be a factor in where he goes next year but I don't think it will be his only motivation. If he likes the situation and fit with the Avs, I think he'll stay as long as he's offered a fair deal. If it is all about the money, I see him going back to the desert cause no one will offer him more than the deal he already turned down. |

I think mack will do a 4m for 2 years, then in 2 years sign him for 7 or 8 years. By then beach, iggy, Stuart will be gone. Barrie is getting a long term deal this time, 2 year deal won't cut it for him. But do his smartly. 6 I think is too much, but 5.5 or so is what I would pay him for 6 years. Picks I think should get a 3 year deal. Start off at 1.5 then up each year. By the time comes to resign him, he could be starting then he would take Varly contract. But some other smaller deal contracts need to be done too. Grigs, minor league players, ELC. exciting times for avs amd future! Plus who we could draft! I really would like to keep boedker, loving his speed with Mack, but not for over 5.5m, if he wants that then he would be willing to sign here for 3 years at 5ish to prove it. And if he fails then whatever we move on and bring up someone else. |

They really need to get rid of that OTL point. If you look at the standings we actually have more wins then Nashville, but they're so far ahead because of the OTL point. 13 of them to our 4. |

I dont like bridge deals, I think it just screws the team long term especially when you know the player is already going to be a big cog of the team.
Saving a few bucks for 2 years is just going to hurt the team down the line since Mack would be getting a bigger and longer contract vs just giving him the long term deal now.
6-7mx8 years for Mack and just get it over with. He is an elite level talent and has shown he can handle the 1C role on this team at 20. Lock him in early |

Pretty poor play by the team captain at this time of year. |
