As always thought provoking -
I also dig 47 for the Ducks - I just wonder what the $ is going to be for him and if they try and do a bridge ?
Ya the Rangers are in a tight spot - cap wise - do they have some guys in the prospect pipeline than can be cheap help ? I don't know about there prospect pool - That new GM is got his work cutout -
Sharks are going to be a tough out - Martin Jones doing his ex that way got to be pretty sweet for him - and I wonder if Lombardi would have done the Boston deal if he had any inkling that Jones would end up in SJ -

First of all, I hope you're having a great weekend!
Second, the Kings can't win with the same roster, they have issue's on defence and some bad contracts Lmbardi has given out.
Third, I'm happy for Big Joe, hard not to cheer for him and Marleau. Unless they're playing the Canucks.
Fourth, the Rangers are a mess, look at their recent draft record, it's awful. |

@dozerD10, which one of your D are you going to trade assuming pay raises some are going to get, if you have to trade 1. |

Appreciate it. I forgot Jones was on LA, that must have been sweet for sure. |

With Vatenen, Lindholm, Fowler, Theodore, Manson and Despres, I think they have the best D in hockey. To be honest, I'm not sure how Bieksa gets on the ice. (Has there been a game where one of Manson or Despres hasn't been injured?) |

Happy Birthday Grandma, oh James she reads it alright....and most weeks she just rolls her eyes and says " Jimmy everything can't be "the best" every week.
Go Leafs Go
And James Reimer is "just ok"....just too many goals go in from behind the net on this guy.
Thanks for reading |

Bieksa's Corsi is better than Vatanen/ Depres and Fowler....isn't that how the team makes their decisions? Plus he's logged the 2nd most defensive ice time on the whole team. |

Vats or Fowler for best return - Depres because this series he looks lost and can't stay healthy - No way 47 goes anywhere - I don't think Shea T or Montour go anywhere - Murray loves those guys - |

I just noticed this
"The Leafs have him (Marner) and William Nylander. After a decade in the wilderness, I think we can literally plan the parade" |

Fowler really isn't that good of a player, but he racks up the points. Sort of like a Roman Josi or Brent Burns type. I would hate to give up on him because he's so young and if he puts it together could be pretty awesome.

I thought Edmonton was getting the parade?
Results matter. Seriously, there is debate about the Kings being the best team in hockey over the last 2 years. Why, cause your beloved fancy stats say so?
No playoff series wins in 2 years, none. No chance they can be considered the best team. Maybe someone that came close and didn't get over the hump yet, like the Ducks or Tampa, but the Kings . Just say no. The results are not there |

James Tanner: PLUS/MINUS: Shark Week + Lindholm + Marner + More
"My grandson writes the second best weekly hockey column in the world."
- Noted Steve Simmons fan and senior citizen, Jimmy's Gramma. - James_Tanner
Player A and Player B are both 25. Player B played 1 game in 09/10. Both were getting minutes in 10/11
Player A: has had two 20 goal seasons, four 50 point seasons and has a career average of .70 points per game. Player A ranked 46 this year with 2.49 P/60
Player B: one 20 goal season, one 50 points season and has career average of .60 points per game. Player B ranked 163rd with 1.95 P/60
Go after the Rangers all you want It, along with touting the Oilers, Leafs and dogging the Coyotes; is what you are good at. However Stepan>>>>>>Kadri and it's not close. |

But you use Corsi to evaluate the players and then you ask how Bieksa even gets on the ice, when his Corsi this year is better than the other 3 guys you mention?

Its really annoying that you think we just rank guys by their possession stats. |

Oh yes, I know. It was pointed out to me like five times so far. It's OK, Lindholm can still aspire to being second best! |

No, that's just the easy-answer dumb-guy narrative from people who won't take ten minutes to read up about the proper ways to analyze and evaluate players. |

No, just trying to understand...one day somebody's hot garbage because they are below 50 the next day you're questioning somebody above 50 playing over someone below 50 that's all...not annoyed at all, just don't get the flip flopping.

Best Swedish defenseman? Better than the active Swedish defenseman point record setter and two time Norris winner? Potential 3rd norris at 25? You really do just say things to aggravate people.
"He literally makes his team the best in the NHL when he's on the ice..."
This is a paraphrase but has been echoed in dozens of your blog's.
Self contradiction and stuff like this is what makes you a b list beat writer. Purposeful provocative writing with no moral high ground leads to that lack of recognition you complain about so very often. |

He already corrected himself....he will be the 2nd best next to EK....even though EK plays more forward then D. A real great D like Lidstrom made the whole team better where EK just worries about his own points.

"MINUS: James Reimer - who's statistics say that he was one of the best goalies in the NHL this year - was acquired by a team that doesn't use him, even though they probably should, basically for free"
Umm is there a good reason he should play over Jonsey? He wasnt free either. |
