Great honor for Ghost! I don't think he'll win it, but all I wanted was for him to be one of the finalists.
I think a good enough case could be made for him to win it, but there's no way he's going to win it over the 25YO guy who plays on the same line with one of the best players in the league and the next Canadian Glory Boy. |

Congrats to Ghost. He truly was a difference maker on this team. even though he is not totally polished he is a perfect example of how great support on the blue line can provide many opportunities for the team.
Panarin is a lock to win it. |

Ghost had a nice year and was a driving force to get us in the playoffs. Should at least be team MVP and best D-man, this year. Looking forward to what he does down the stretch in his career. |

I think McJesus wins it. His hype + production + lack of support= winner winner...
IMHO.
Is it my imagination or does Ghost always say the right thing. I know athletes are prepped to give canned responses but the guy always seems to have a way with words even in the locker room or on the ice, no? |

Specifically, his ability to close on opponents with his fleet feet, his skill at getting into the passing lanes and either trigger counterattacks or at least break up opposing plays was almost as valuable of an addition to the lineup as his work in the offensive end. - Bill
Yeah, the ability to deny time/space all over the ice will become more and more coveted as teams continue to move away from crease-clearing pilons and passive shot-blockers. |

I think Ghost could win it with a lot of 2nd place votes, where Panarin and McDavid may be 1 or 3 on a lot of ballots. Could be a weird vote this year |

I wish Larkin or Eichel were one of the other finalists instead of Panarin and/or McDavid. If one of those two won it id say oh well but being 25 playing with Kane and missing majority of season due to injury does not surpass a rookie dman elevating his teams' play for playoff push / season turnaround imho and is frustrating to see a Calder worthy rookie such as Ghost not get what he normally would get if it weren't such a stacked rookie class. Regardless, can only go up from here w Ghost and man is he cool and collected with his words to reporters. Sounds like he's been in the league for years. |

good job Ghost....Barber was robbed of the Calder and most of the league hates the Flyers so you most likely will finish 3rd |

If McJesus gets ahead of Ghost, it's pure based on hype and predisposition bias.. |

I think McDavid wins the Calder, given his injury and still produced over a pt/game pace and the hype of the wunderkind.
I think Gostisbehere finishes second. He was a crucial piece in turning the team around.
Panarin finishes third. He had a great year and piled up the points, but it also helps playing with one of the greats. |

Very cool that he was nominated. I still think it goes to McDavid, but that's just me, and I don't have a vote. |

So...trade Morin now while people think players like him are still needed? |

If the award takes in to account impact on his teams success (and it should) Ghost should win hands down. ESPECIALLY since he is a defenseman.
But since the NHL needs to market its superstar players, Connor Mac will win.

Or the fact that he put up more than a point per game on an absolutely horrible Edmonton team and that his linemates production went from great to terrible and back to great in sync with his injury. On a game-by-game basis, when healthy, he was the best rookie this year, but can understand if people think he missed too much time. |

Yeah, but it doesn't. It's open for interpretation, though. If it was the rookie Hart, he'd win it. But as for the Calder, it has no specific rules.
Edit: It's more like the Vezina than the Hart. |

The Calder is kind of a stupid award, but I hope he wins |

No way the Flyers are in the postseason without Ghost. He won't win,but you can definitely make the case he should. His impact was immeasurable. |

Congrats to Gostisbehere on the nomination, he is very deserving. I think it will go to Panarin though, who is also very deserving. I don't think the Flyers would've made the playoffs without the offensive jolt Gostisbehere added, and I think he's going to get even better. |
