So, the average age of our coaching staff is in their 60's? And people wonder why we ignore analytics (to our continual detriment)...

ignored or used as part of considerations but not as an over riding factor?

Thank god we've got such a prolific blogger to at least somewhat satiate our hockey needs during these hockey-less summer days. Thanks Carol and keep up the great work.

As far as Juolevi, nice to see the kid has an excellent attitude. Knowing your limitations and realizing the need to continually improve shows he has a mature perspective on things, despite his tender age. I'm very much looking forward to seeing him close-up in the next few months.

I confess I wasn't too thrilled when Benning passed on Tkachuk, but I've definitely come around since then and am quite pleased at his selection. If only Benning could translate his drafting prowess into the trading component, it would be a huge bonus. Thus far, though, I've liked what he's done with the pick-ups in free agency so hopefully he'll continue to improve as he feels more comfortable in the GM role

Please don't be too hard on him. It is exciting to finally get that chance to be 1st at something in your life.

Thanks Carol. I've been clamouring on here for Pirri for over a month now as a potential low cost scorer. How he goes from Florida's 2nd line a couple of seasons ago to not even being signed is a little concern, especially since there haven't been any comments about him a bad teammate.

please lets stay away from players nobody seems to want to keep.
Russel, pirri, gagner.
at 26 gagners been traded countless times....the last as a "we'll take on Prongers useless contract but in return you have to take gagner"......not good. Word out of philly previously after his 1st stint with them was that he has a nasty drinking problem

No thanks

We have too many bottom 6 forwards. This team desperately needs some grit amongst the forwards. And a top 9 forward that can hit and chip in 15-20 goals, not a one-dimensional 4th liner

We are in no position to not sign players just because they arent wanted. I agree we don't want anymore plugs, but Pirri wouldn't be a bad signing and probably would come relatively cheap. He has some obvious consistency issues but I would welcome a guy like him @25 years old to see if he can get back to scoring 22 or more goals.

eriksson is that thankfully.
Think we are a little overloaded with forwards right now anyways when you factor in whats coming in....rodin eriksson etc. We will have extras on the roster all season barring trade.

Where would he play? We need size on our 3rd line not another small forward. Rodin and Bae are our small forward and we have reached our quota

Any time you have a player that is 25 or under and has been successful (20 goals in today's NHL is not an easy task to accomplish), you need to take a serious look at. To that end, it's a bit head scratching as to why he hasn't been signed yet - is there more to the situation then we are privy to? are there some personality issues involved? it certainly seems like it would be a low-risk/high reward type of signing. I think Benning should definitely look into this kid, he could end up being a steal when all is said and done

The fact he had 2 assists is probably part of the reason Florida and ANA didn't want him. Although he didn't have 15 assists last season. I won't complain if they sign him I just don't see any roster room

I had no problem with the pick other than Calgary was for sure taking a forward it would have been nice to grab a 2nd or 3rd rounder from Calgary especially since they had so many and drop back a spot.

Good read about him on the canucks website saying only 7 dmen have played as 17 year olds on World JR team.

I think in a radio interview on 1040 he expects to be a net front presence.

in JB's Friday interview, he said LE was 6.03 I didn't realize he was that tall.

I'm not sure that all equals grit, but he is known to be a good 2 way player and isn't afraid to play in the dirty areas.

Very true. I was really hoping to land Connolly. I know he isnt exactly a big hitter but a big body that might have looked good with the twins or at the very least could have also been moved up and down the line up giving JV a season in Utica to develop.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a reply or an objective response of any type, he comes in every so often to disparage the team and is gone.

I don't think he is a Canucks fan at all.

But I'm willing to be proven wrong

I would like to add him too. He plays all 3 forwards spots and for a cheap deal on a 1 or 2 year term get it done. If he doesnt work out flip him at the deadline with nothing lost but a pick gained. Would likely be better than burrows, etem etc
