He's one of those rare prospects which people universally hope for his success. Hard worker and seems like a good kid.

I'd say 3rd line RW in future. Babcock likes one guy per line that does the gritty stuff, so eventually I assume:

JVR Matthews Marner
Korchkov Nylander Bracco
Komarov Kadri Brown
Soshnikov Gauthier Grundstrom

Rielly Liljegren
Gardiner Zaitsev
Dermott Greenway

I think that the hard work is what sets him apart from some other guys

man i hope LouLams can make a couple moves before the season starts to get rid of some of the vets who arent in the plans....

if he can't... guys like Brown and Soshnikov will have to wait for injuries or deadline deals to get a real opportunity at a full time NHL spot.

Great job posting interesting blogs during the worst part of the year for hockey fans. Have a great and safe trip to Killbear. I'll be heading up to Algonquin on Sunday for 5 days!

If he's protected from the waiver wire then he starts with the Marlies.
It's unfortunate but until Greening is gone cause I see Brown on the 3rd line.

I guess they still can send Greening to the Marlies but they need to pump and dump him by the TD.

Love Brown........really pulling for him. No way Babcock starts Mathews on the first line, I see him starting on the 3rd line and Brown and Martin accompanying!

Don't expect him to start with Leafs at beginning of the season due to surplus of meh forwards. I agree with other posters that he is the type of individual we all would like to see successful.

Excellent write up and enjoy your vacation.

absolutely agree with brown. This kid should be on the leaf lineup no doubt. Speed, skill, drive, net presence... he is a babcock player

I don't mind if the introduction of the rookies is staggered... Need a mix of more experienced guys, IMO.

It's already likely that Nylander and Matthews will be playing together... Having other lines with 2 rookies seems like a recipe for disaster.

Connor Brown only has to do 1 additional thing to deserve a spot on this team:

Have a 'Brown-stache'

going back to read blog after comment. we have little experience on the right side. Brown is a great two way player who plays every aspect of the game. He will slot in on an important line immediately. Maybe its in a kadri "shut down line with skills and komarov. maybe its on a scoring line of Jvr Bozak. maybe its on a scoring linewith Matthews but right now thats where nylander starts.

Either way babcock wants it. Connor Brown is the answer.

Personally, Id like to see JvR with Matthews along with brown or marner. Danger!

brown will have a spot ahead of nylander easily. and ahead of Marner until he can adjust to the nhl. He's older and hes a much better two way player than willie. willie needs a ton of work on the defensive side of the game.

as for trading vets, i keep saying, it is not necessary. Babs will take his best 13 forwards. any of lupul, greeening, laich, holland and definetely michalek can be marlies.

I agree, having a veteran presence is important on a team.

Florida did it right, hell they overpaid for older players for 3-4 years, bringing in young players gradually and now they're looking amazing right now.

Edmonton threw all their young guys in the mix at once and... well... you know how things have been for them.
