"and the first-ever medal for Canada in race-walking—a bronze for Evan Dunfee of Richmond in the 50k event"
But, could Evan beat Bill Nye??
I doubt it...

Any Canucks ice pak or season ticket holders in here?
If there is, has anybody picked their seats and done the game exchange between different plans? |

We get first dibs at Patrick Roy as Green's replacement. |

Considering how big the Olympics have become, they could really eliminate race walking IMO, like it makes sense to see how fast a human can cover 100m, 200m, 10km, etc., but the restricting rules and then judgement of form involve in race walking makes it a silly event. I would rather see them race backwards than walking |

I could see Roy not letting the players leave to get called up, starts questioning their commitment to the Comets |

I'd rather see race walking than equestrian and a few other events.
Some of the events where they have bikes and boats, I'd like to see everyone show up and the olympics provide the equipment, and it is all the same, no technological advantages
maybe have all the runners using no name sneakers and the same clothing materials/blends for all. |

Back to school shopping? - Marwood
Remember when that meant a new pack of duo-tang folders, a box of pencil crayons and a highlighter?
Now it's a new laptop, an iPhone 6 and a Ritalin prescription. |

Totally agree on those points, though in some sports you are free to choose any and all equipment that do not provide a distinct advantage because they are regulated (ie golf clubs). They fixed swimming after those special suits made for ridiculous times, and I would like to see even fields for other events. The USA female runners I saw wearing compression sleeves on their calves, which you would think provides an advantage against those that don't
Equestrian is not an event I truly understand, but to your point the rider might be the best on a bad horse, how is that person truly worthy of a gold medal |

I think the rider and the horse are viewed as a team. You'd need to give everyone the same horse to tell who the best rider is and that would just be weird. |

you nailed it there.....dead on.
you can bet the ritalin prescription is due to the kids utter lack of exercise and too much time behind a tv/computer/iphone screen. Tumbleweeds blowing through the playgrounds |

The tumbleweeds also have something to do with the parents that think their kid is going pro at whatever sport/skill they have, sticking them in gyms/training/power skating 24/7 |
