Maybe it's just me, but the Rubstov video didn't load for me. In any event, it's A game and he's 18. Who here ever came into their first day on the job and knocked it out of the park? No worries.

Yes, one game. The concern is not that he got outmuscled by a physically more developed 25-year-old and it ended up in the net. The concern is that he rode the bench the rest of the night after one mistake. That is not uncommon in the handling of tookies in the KHL. That was the point of the blog.

I got to see Vorobyov for the first real time in the 4 Nations tournament, and I was so impressed by his 2-way game and smarts. Good skater, size, strong passing, rather reluctant to shoot....but his hockey sense and compete stood out. Saw all top line minutes and top special teams. I wouldn't be surprised if he can compete for that 3C job in a couple years.

That's bad coaching if you ask me. Rubtsov after getting up after the goal was scored raised his arms towards the ref for good reason. The goal scorer torqued his skates with his stick, causing an all ready off balance Rubtsov from being able to regain his balance. The effort was there in my opinion. Maybe you can argue he needs to be stronger on his skates, but it wasn't for lack of effort.

Would he be better off in the Q if he was allowed?

Flyers took that risk by drafting him and knowing he may remain in the KHL.

I tend to believe that when it comes to young kids who have great hockey minds and sound 2-way games, development of skills and scoring ability and confidence is more important. A lot of kids don't have those attributes yet or might not ever, so I'd rather see Rubtsov mine his offensive abilities.

Just what the Flyers need, players getting hurt training for or in bs preseason tournaments.

Training camp hasn't even started yet and Hextall is already issuing injury updates. Mid-season form in September.

Here's to hoping he has the mental toughness to bounce back. Got to have a short term memory in sports.
