Brett Hull on ESPN's studio show seemed to be trying to outdo NBC's Jeremy Roenick in the hot takes department. In various segments, Hull opined with absolute confidence that Team Russia is filled with one-dimensional, selfish players, John Tortorella thus far is more of distraction than benefit as the coach of Team USA (even before they've played a game) and that most every goal he dissected on replay -- even one that was obviously deflected less than 10 feet front of the net -- was almost solely the product of lousy goaltending.
Brett Hull and Jeremy Roenick are equally terrible at their jobs.
You mean scoring one of the team's 6 goals and leading the team in points in the playoffs last year? I wish he was that noticeable last night. Do the Sabres plan on making the playoffs for the rest of this decade, or are you guys going to boo your players on home ice for a few more years? - jmatchett383
I was going to reply to him but then realized he is a Sabres fan.
I thought it was Jack in Jim for life there. Guess they weren't that close.

I don't like the concept, but I will watch it because it's better than fat guys falling on each other and because I'm a hockey junkie. - jmatchett383
I was very impressed with the young talent on team NA.
The D is obviously a bit behind the skill of the forwards, but the forwards are fabulous and very entertaining to see play together.
It's fun and a welcome break from having no hockey to watch.
As soon as there is a major injury I'm sure I'll change my opinion, but right now I'm happy to see it.
I know some of you dislike the World Cup but I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed watching team North America skate last night.
What a nightmare for Chara and to a lesser extent Mark Streit with all the speed on that team.
McDavid, Johnny Gaudreau and McKinnon are just flat out pure entertainment to watch.
I think Couts is primed for a great year.
Bill, if you are reading, who would you like to see line up as #14's wingers?
Ghost may have a bit of a sophomore slump but I can't wait to watch him again. - Marc D
Not bill but its hard to say right now. Schenn will miss first 3 games so top 6 will be a little off.
Personally I think he needs a playmaker type on the wing. I would love to see Konecny on one side. I know it might not happen this year but I think a guy like that would be a help with Couturier.

This is the reason I think Voracek might work there.
Is Konecny a playmaker? Haven't had a chance to watch him in depth.
He seems like a speedy smaller winger who likes to go hard to the net.
I keep trying to forget about the Schenn suspension. What a load of BS that is.
I like Trouba, hell I think he could be a top pair guy.
The contract demands are insane. Prove it first before you want that mega deal. - flyer_nutter
I feel like those demands are kind of like Hamilton in Boston. Remember the numbers floated around and then when he signed in Calgary it was a reasonable deal? I think Trouba is not big on WPG. So if they really want him there then he wants big money to be there. I think if he was dealt somewhere in the US you would see him get something like Hamilton got.

LOL @ Kevin Weekes and John Buccigross commentary. Streit magically turned into a traffic cone. Again I'll say it. I don't see that man getting traded. Flyers will eat his contract and like it.
