I don't often agree with Tanner, at all, but he's dead-on here.

Could be a blessing. Others like Money, Bennett have the opportunity to step out of the shadows. I think they'll struggle though as it has been the D and Tending that has been the biggest issue.

But aren't the Flames top 10 in possession stats? Doesn't that mean they are sick?!?!!?

James, the reason we signed Grossmann was to maximize the amount of money we were able to recapture from Ladislav Smid's LTIR status. The closer to the cap ceiling you are the more cap space you recapture. It was an excellent move by GM BT. Do your homework before opening that big yap of yours nextime please.

It was a disaster with him in there, so it will be a disaster without him. I am fiercely skeptical towards the makeup of the coaching staff, more so than the roster, which I am still not convinced is where it needs to be.

I have sand in my dark places.

Jokipakka, Engelland, etc aren't clear cut world beaters either

I agree with Patrick Kane's take on slashing the hands. What is the point of it other than to agitate or worse, injure skilled players ? Time for the NHL to start enforcing their own rules.

Before you get all sarcastic and think you 'got me' might want to consider that there were and are approximately 200 better options than Grossmann. Literally.

Unless they specifically had to sing Grossmann and no one else in order to get that recapture money, then your argument is ridiculous.

They are exactly in the middle of the pack. To their credit, they do have over 50% but that puts them in a wild-card situation at best. Plus a few teams that don't deserve it always squeak in with an anomalous record.

That's my point. It wasn't just some amazing cap loophole move. They needed help on the backend and could only afford Grossman.

Yeah. I always thought the argument that they needed fighting to keep players from cheap shotting each other was silly for the same reason. Keep the players in line by calling penalties when the break the rules. Same thing for cross checks.

Why should you ever be allowed in any situation to purposely hit another player with your stick?
