I thought Gositisbehere played well yesterday. I especially like how he was using the wrist shot to get pucks on the net. They need Del Zotto to bounce back, and I think he will. |

Weird question but perhaps you may be able to give some insight Bill.
What the (frank) is going on with Weise? Umberger-esque |

Weise has shown zero offensive ability to this point, although he's much better than Umberger. His play has not been worth his cost to this point. |

Did anybody think he was signed for his offensive ability |

Considering he's average at best defensively at ES, can't PK, was given the 3RW and PP2 time to start the year, and he is coming off a career best offensive season (pre-trade at least), yes, I think they absolutely signed him to be a big offensive contributor in the bottom 6.
They signed him too because they stressed about "size." And they got that and nothing else so far, though he's been a tick better of late. |

"Did anybody think he was signed for his offensive ability "
No, but it IS probably one of the reasons they signed Weise over White. He's perceived to be a better overall player who's probably more consistent/versatile than White.
Not only is Weise struggling with the puck, I have seen almost ZERO rough stuff, body checking, glove dropping, etc. It's like the contract has gone to his head big time.
As of right now?... I'd rather have White big time. Especially considering he was already a bit of a fan fave, and probable liked in the locker room. |

Maybe, but I'll give it more time (even though it hasn't been great).........especially since he isn't going anywhere. |

As much as I'm a believer in Hextall, that contract looked bad the moment it was signed. There's players that signed for much less that could provide what he does.
They paid a premium for a dime a dozen player |

Absolutely. He did score 14 goals in 56 games for Montreal last season, and I'm sure the Flyers expected him to chip in 10-12 goals in a 3rd or 4th line role, as well as provide some size to the mix.
He's been better of late, but sill hasn't really done enough to justify the investment |

I dont think anyone picked Stolarz in the "first shutout" poll we had...seems like it would only make sense at this point |

So Vandevelde practiced? Guess it really is true then, that which is dead can never die.

his team failed to score after he left the game....he knew he needed to get back to work quickly |

He is renowned for his offensive prowess and his ability to survive any and all attempts to remove him from the lineup.

If he doesn't play to standard I do think there may be a slight chance that Vegas would grab him in expansion. They need to get to floor and he is that classical middling player that is a "team guy" that they could use hopefully.
I'm holding out hope he rebounds with PEB and Meat, but I am equally hoping LV comes calling. |

I don't think I'd go so far to say that the contract has gone to his head, but I think the whole "new team, new contract" thing might be playing with his head a bit.
I think he's a much better player than he's shown, but I don't disagree with people that say that maybe his role could have been filled more cheaply. |

FWIW, Vegas only has to get to like 80% of the floor their first year. |

He has a somewhat front loaded contract as well, so LV would be on the hook for slightly less salary than his cap hit (in the final year). they could do worse, but I wouldn't say he is the likely target yet |

they only need to draft 60% of the salary cap (which could come out to about 80% of the floor), but still need to become cap compliant before the season starts |
