Vasy is performing; Bish isn't. Seems pretty obvious what the solution is. |

Neither will be back next year so what do you say to do? It's an organization that it's deep in the playoffs now or bust. They can bring a return that will help now so why not? Bishop isn't playing great but his value isn't at the lowest. |

How about Bishop for Elliott and someone? Calgary wanted Bishop and Elliott is struggling plus FA like Bish. Elliott would be a solid #2 here. |

Kucherovski, players have some ups and downs. Johnson probably will be back next year. Why the hell would we trade bish for Elliot (who you says is ALSO struggeling) and other pieces that we will probably loose in the expansion draft?
Its not in november this team needs to be at its best. Its in april. And what do you think Calgary would give up for Bish? Elliot and Hamilton? For a pending UFA who they could sign without losing assets in the summer?
You dont think very far ahead dont you. |

Why would we trade for Elliott, because we either lose Bishop for free or lose him for something. Yes Elliott is struggling which is why he would fit as a backup here. So we lose Elliott in the expansion draft, that is fine because he hasn't show to be a top #1 like Bishop is.
It is in April the team needs to be their best but they have to make it to the playoffs to be able to play their best hockey there. I am not a GM but I would think Calgary may want Bishop now to try and show him their town, show him their organization in hopes they can sign him to a new deal. You get him right at the deadline and you reduce your chances of winning him over I would think.
I think plenty far ahead. Bishop, unless he takes a large pay decrease is gone at the end of the year. Johnson is $3m now and probably wants a raise and Palat will get a raise and Drouin will get a raise. Kucherov is still not locked up very long. Here is who we would have to sign next year:
Drouin
Palat
Johnson
Sustr
Koekkoek
Nesterov
Boyle
Out of all of those guys who is expendable? Boyle and Johnson. Boyle is a solid penalty killer and third/fourth line guy who may not ask for much of a raise from his current $2m cap hit. Drouin will get at least double, Palat will get around $5m, Koekkoek will get a nice raise too. Again thinking ahead Johnson looks to be the guy to go. Johnsons points per game by year are .6, .94, .55, and now .6. Do you think he is a point per game player? No he is a 0.5 - 0.6 point per game player so would you pay him over $4m for that?
My post by trading them specifically is thinking ahead. Vasey seems to be ready to be #1, the more Bishop struggles and splits time the less Yzerman can ask for him. Trade them now for a solid return to make a run at the Cup this year. |

So we trade away Bish for Elliot and Hamilton and add 8,25 mill in capspace for next year, how are we gonna sign all those guys then with around 4m left?
And if you think that LV would take a goalie from our team, please stop drinking bleach. |

If we move Bishop and Johnson that clears up $9m. If we get Hamilton and Elliott, who knows if that is the two but that is $8m and Elliott comes off next year which means Hamiltion $5.75m stays on the books. I don't think we go for Hamilton due to the contract, he would be a nice fit but too expensive.
Please tell me who LV would take then? MAF? MAF is 2 years older and hasn't been playing nearly as well as Bishop has. Drinking bleach is a bit strong considering LV won't have many recent Vezina finalists to choose from. |

Yeah it clears 9M but we still only have about 13-15m in cap for next year with that deducted. We dont want Hamilton? So we asking for Giordano or Brodie?
We already have to expose Killorn or Namestikov. So we should downgrade our goalies and add a rental for the position where we are as strongest?
I thought Elliot was signed for another year but that only proves my point even more that you have no clue. LV will not select a player without a contract, you get that right? Also MAF has a NMC so they wont be chosing him either if there isnt a deal with Pens.
I could go on all day but its like arguing with a wall, as usual with you Kucherovski. Please present a deal with the flames that is a win for TB both in this years run and for the future..?

I guess that's where I differ, why are we arguing instead of having a discussion? I'm not arguing, I have no ability to make any real moves for the Lightning. I am not calling any names, trying to have a discussion about the Lightning. One of us may be right, neither of us, doesn't really matter but enjoyable to discuss.
In my opinion LV takes the best players available, contract or not. If LV doesn't take Bishop I still don't see him coming back next year.
How about Bishop and Johnson for Elliott and Wideman? We could use a right shot on the point and then Elliott and Wideman are off the books next year so it doesn't put us in a cap bind. How that helps us is we get a right D for a run this year and how it helps Calgary is they get a #1 who they may sign for a longer deal. Kind of like getting Sydor in 2004. |

Why the (frank) would they take a player without a contract when they could just talk to him in a week and sign him? The whole point of the expansion draft is to take players under contract to build a team. And finish up in free agency.

You know why? Vegas has to pick their team by June 20th while Bishop is still under contract until July 1st. You guys are soooo smart huh.
Vegas may pick him and get early access to negotiate his contract but they have to draft him to do that instead of risking another team coming in free agency., if he is the goalie they want. Vegas also has to select 3 goalies. You think they take 3 goalies and then go negotiate with Bishop?? You guys got me though, good job!! |

Well its no point in discussing since we are trading him and Johnson for Elliot and Dennis "The referee slayer" Wideman. |

Odds are we are not but why not discuss the team and what could or would be good for it in the brains of fans? Is that something we can not do? We can only discuss facts that you know? The team is struggling, this team is not built to miss the playoffs and the management will not stand for missing the playoffs. Something will need to be done and both Johnson and Bishop are free agents at the end of the season so it would make sense for them to trade them. Sorry, going forward I will ask you what the facts of the Lightning are before I talk about them. |

The FACT is that making that trade will make our team significantly worse. So the FACT is that any GM with 2 cents to his name would never do that.
We can discuss alot, but you cant outsmart stupid. If you would have said Bishop, Johnson and Drouin for Elliot and Gaudreu it would make some sense and we could discuss it. But dumping a great goalie and a player whos almost 1ppg in the playoffs for Dennis f*cking Wideman is seriously the worst thing i have read this year.
Something that drastic does not need to be done. We are in a slump. We will get out of it.
You sir have squeezed yet another answer out of me, but this will be the last one. |

You didn't explain how this makes us worse? Say Vasey takes over the number one, besides the last game he has out played Bishop this year. We trade a backup goalie for a backup goalie. Johnson has done well in the playoffs but in order to do well in the playoffs you have to make the playoffs. We lose a little offense but gain a right shot D man with a lot of experience which we are missing. We're not missing quick, small forwards, we have plenty of those.
Your counter was Bishop/Johnson/Drouin for Elliott and Gaudreau? That makes us BETTER but the Bishop/Johnson for Elliott/Wideman makes us way worse? Getting another under sized LW with almost a $7m contract is a good move? Drouin will NOT get a $7m contract next but you feel it's a good idea to take that on? We differ on what will help this team which is fine, I find it interesting to hear other peoples opinion and I don't feel the need to try make my thoughts better by calling someone elses "the worst thing I've read all year". |

Again it is under the premise Vasey takes over the #1 spot. We get a worse goalie, yes but it is a backup who is capable, not as capable as Bishop, but capable every 4 or 5 games. We get better at the back end by adding Wideman and we may get worse up front, not sure who they put there to replace Johnson. Will it happen? No most likely it would not, 99.9% sure it is not happening. It's not all that bad of a trade in my opinion but I also am not even close to as high on Johnson as a lot of people so there is bias there.
Nice of you to ignore the Vegas stuff....it's tough being wrong sometimes but it's ok, you can do it!
