Dowd should shoot more. He was told that last season in ONT (as you know) and proceeded to start scoring goals. He has a pretty decent shot in close, the ability to roof the puck. |

Anze Kopitar
Kopitar is slumping with a 1.19 5v5 Points/60. He should heat up -- his 1.99 5v5 Points/60 from 2013-16 ranks 46th out of 264 qualified forwards (2000+ 5v5 minutes).
what, you mean playing him with guys like king and lewis versus pearson or toffoli is going to affect his scoring rate? |

He just started playing with those gus since he got back. He was on a line with Pearson before his injury and was not producing much offense. He's been struggling this year. Maybe it's that 10 mil weighing down his backside. |

my god the (frank)ing lines for tonight
Matt "turn over/dumb penalty/pylon" Greene is in for Gilbert
Gaborik still saddled with Shore and Nolan
King and Lewis on the top line, WTF happened is the world completely upside down? |

his game will be fine if he has complementary parts. gaborik shouldn't be on the 4th line with king on the 1st for much longer, right? |

You realize these have been the same lines for the last several games, all of which the Kings have won, right?
The only modification is Greene for Gilbert and Gaborik for Clifford. |

Hi!

Yeah, he'll probably need to shoot a little more -- at the very least, to keep other teams guessing. A couple times recently, his passes have been intercepted, which is not proof of anything, but I wonder if teams are starting to get familiar with his style.
Maybe it's that 10 mil weighing down his backside. - verwustung
Despite the lack of results, he's looked pretty good to me. Hit some posts, for sure. He'll be okay, his Corsi & Scoring Chances For % are as strong as ever.

Actually, I figure Gaborik is more likely to take Lewis's place than King's King-Kopi-Gabbo, anyone?

For better or worse, Sutter is usually slow with changing up a winning formula. |

He hasn't skated for 3 months, he's not conditioned to play 20 minutes per night. Sutter is going to ease him back into the lineup. Once he gets his legs back under him, I'm sure he'll be in the top six again. |

I understand and agree but it flies in the face of Sutter's own philosophy which is if he's healthy he's playing his regular shift. |

This philosophy seems pretty flexible, as I doubt the plan is to play Gaborik on the fourth line for the rest of the season. He'll get back with Kopi, already started happening in the third period tonight. |

He was on a line with Pearson for like a game or 2. He has had a revolving door at wing all season playing with just about every winger on the team. |

i'd also be more than fine if they gave mersch a chance alongside brown and dowd...iirc, mersch and dowd played together in ontario last year a decent amt.

Mersch will be an NHL plug. Dude can't play in DZ or NZ. |

I'd like to see them try Purcell with Brown-Dowd. Purcell played well with Dowd in preseason and has more upside than Setoguchi. Wonder if Seto's scratch is a hint that they're going to send him down with Andreoff's impending return. I think he'd pass through waivers unclaimed

Mersch is slumping a bit in Ontario this year (three goals in 15 games). Hopefully, he takes over down there like he did at the beginning of last year to earn his way back up.
In my mind, Mersch's lack of foot speed affects him mostly in the neutral zone. But a guy like King overcame such concerns. Mersch isn't that far away from that next step, but granted, it's not happening as quickly as we hoped. |

I'd love to be wrong about MM but I think he's the type of player that is being phased out. It's a small sample but I saw him get outworked along the boards for 50/50 pucks during his call up. That was when he was actually able to get there.
How's Kempe looking?

Mersch is a good 50/50 guy, so I think that should be a strength in the NHL. But yea, getting there is the issue.
Kempe still pretty inconsistent, just 3-2-5 in 15 games, and has already got a public lambasting from Stothers. So still a work in progress.
