It's really annoying me that Ghost received the least 5v5 minutes of any d man. By over a minute and a half. It's a trend where almost every game this is happening. Like he actually is a PP specialist now.

But just about every night you look at the stats, watch the game, and he is doing great things. Tonight: led d men in CF% at 67%. Was on ice for 1 goal for (and 1 against which wasn't even his fault). Ghost, with Manning, led the team in scoring chances for, led in high danger chances for....despite the minutes. Meanwhile we just about every night get MacDonald, top pair d man. Grrrrrrr.

Great effort, good process, would've liked the 2 points but oh well. The Flyers have been a team of late, even with their win streak and whatnot, that has been a mess in terms of process, just scraping wins by sheer will and some good fortune. Wasn't sustainable and now we see the other end of that. Tonight was a step in the right direction. Really need more of these performances.

Probably not coincidence that Matt Read and Sean Couturier are back in the fold.

Couturier so soon in the shootout was dumb.

Maybe they should focus on finding a few guys that aren't all stars defensively but can bring some creativity. *gasp*

I'm with Nutter, using Coots in the SO before guys like Konecny, Schenn and even Provorov makes no sense at all.

First of all Gostisbehere was not last among defenseman in ES ice time, MacDonald was in the game. Have to look at game situations. The Flyers had some PP time, and when you have a 4 minute PP, that can take away some available shifts. I think Gostisbehere's play has been trending up, and he's been getting better and better. I think his ES icetime will start to climb.

Best game in awhile. You can really see what Matt Read does to this team and its great to see. He looks like he hasn't skipped a beat since going down. Bounce back year big time for him.

Usually when it comes to our flyers the eye test should suffice. I still see a player with shaky confidence. I hope he gets a goal soon he really needs to hammer a slapper home that will hopefully help him. Too much tripping over his skates, uncertainty with the puck on his stick in the offensive zone. It's always going to be an adventure in our D zone with him. Flyers still need him to step up his game

I'm still not seeing much from Weise, nor do I like Schenn in the middle at ES. Also Provorov needs and deserves a better partner than AMac. Gudas looked good last night, so why not try:

Raffl-G-Jake
TK-Coots-Simmonds
Schenn-Cousins-Read
The usual suspects

Provorov-Gudas
MDZ-Ghost
AMac-Manning

Right now, there is no way I'd play Cousins over Weise in the top 9. The Couturier line last night was effective, and it gives the coach another line he can trust and play. Weise played over 19 minutes last night.

I have not been happy with Weise overall, but I think he's been one of the better Flyers forwards in the trenches in the three games since the holiday break. Needs to build on it a little more.

I agree, if he can start adding some offense and chipping in, with the way he is playing away from the puck lately, that will be a boost for the Flyers.

Yeah, I guess. He seems to look good for a couple of shifts then he disappears for a while. All in all, I wish they could find someone with more all around skill to play with Coots and Read

Weise simply has to better. Rarely hear his name called during a game, so maybe
"His play away from the puck" is what you are talking about. He has been a dissapointment . Cousins works hard , and hustles . He gets in the face of the opponent, and hey he has even chipped in 10 points.
This team needs more players who provide grit and relentless work, I watched Leo Komarov last night for Toronto... That's the type of players we need... Not to mention a legit top 3 LW

Personally, I don't see Cousins as any more than a stop gap player. I don't see him as a long term NHL player. I hope I'm wrong about that. There is no doubt that Weise has been a disappointment this season to this point. If he can turn the corner and continue to play well, and get some offense going, that will be a boost for the Flyers.

I never want to see a Flyer player fail however Weise is on his 5th NHL team in his
7th or 8th season. Not a good sign. If he can't contribute at least 25 points or at least be an agitator and get the team going than he is useless. So far he has not shown this will be done. I hope he can turn it around but in my opinion Cousins has shown more of all round game

Is there a chance Kase comes over and plays for the Phantoms next year? Also any chance Friedman foregoes his senior year and joins the Phantoms?

Using Provorov is what would make no sense. He didn't take them in Junior. And Couturier has a better shootout record than Schenn.

Couturier 2/16
Schenn 1/12
Konecny 0/3

If the Gudas-MDZ pairing can get back to playing like they did last year, I'd like to see Provorov paired with Ghost.

Flyers were great last night, but I take it with a grain of salt as Randy Carlisle teams are normally awful two-way teams.

Agree, I was going to say 5 points minimum.
Time for our pair of 8M dollar players to really step up over these next 3 games and get this team going in right direction for (Frank) sakes

Well, if those 3 are a combined 3 for 31, why not try Provorov?
