Sheng Peng: Landeskog to La La Land?
Do the Kings and Avs make good trade partners? Also, Brown's subtle, strong shift + what did LA do on Saturday that they haven't done yet this season? |
|
|
|
Of course any team would love to have GL, he is like a younger VinnyL in a way, but the Kings have the worst chances CAP wise to do anything, unless some major salary/player(s) is going the other way. Also, why trade any Kings players in the western conference? I guess the Avs are not doing well at all, I could see Sakic and the Kings making a deal though, like in the past with the Rob Blake for (Deadmarsh/Miller). I don't like Shore, or any of our bottom six. I hate Muzzin. But for now he cannot be replaced for a C/FWD. To many rumors and what if's right now. I would love a big shake up trade for the Kings only if making the team better. I like Pearson, be sad if they let him go on some trade like that. |

There is no way kings will be able to pull it off with the cap issue, they currently have.
Unless they unload both Brown and Gaborik for picks or prospects I don't see how they can make a deal.
Kings should be looking to restock theyre prospect cabinet, it's barren. |

I would not be willing to give up Pearson Martinez or Kempe.
Muzzin, Brown, King , McNaab and a prospect I would be fine with dealing and or even Gaborik. Greene Gilbert need to go too.
Maybe we could dump a crap load of player and pick up Duschene and Landeskog
Gravel and Forbort will be fine eventually. I would be OK with continuing to press their progress a bit. |

Don't trade Muzzin. For Duchene or Landeskog. His value is higher. |

If the Kings staff believes that Forbort and Gravel will continue to grow and maintain a roster spot. I have zero issue trading Muzzin for Landy. And adding in some other pieces. Pearson for me is a non starter. I would hate to lose more draft picks. Im not opposed to trading Kemp if we have to. But would rather shed some of our bottom 6 guys. Would like for LA to move on from Clifford and Nolan. Clifford isnt physical enough and has no edge to his game.
With that said Im not sure how you can get Landy and resign Pearson and Toff to new contracts. But Muzzin and Clifford out would offset the incoming salary of Landy for the most part. Carter works so well with Pearson and Toff. LA needs to find something that works with Kopi. Other players who will work as hard as he does. I think Landy is a potential perfect fit. |

Landy is signed for term and giving up either muzzin or Marty results in a $1.5m cap gain, but the king contract expires which saves cap space. Theres room to add but it goes back to whether Sakic would take the deal. Hard to see. |

I've actually had convos with almost this exact scenario. It's definitely possible for the kings to make a deal for landeskog, "money wise". Question is, would Colorado take a deal NOT involving Pearson or Kempe. This, I highly doubt.
LW and Drafting prospects are what kings need to focus on in the offseason. IMO |

If management knows around what its going to cost to resign Pearson and feel confident in resigning him. I 100% add Kempe to the package. The real question would be, whats Muzzins value in the market? Does he have value similar to Larsson? |

Maybe not a 1 for 1 like NJ pulled off but you add in some pieces I say yes. Again, not involving Kempe or Pearson. Maybe mersch?
So, Muzzin, Mersch, pick (3rd?) for landeskog? Something like that. Muzzin (Top 4 D) to me is main piece, so the Kings better not give up a whole lot after that! |

Certainly to the Kings. For Colorado, I understand passing on a one-for-one deal there.

Can't see why Avs would take bottom-six guys for Landeskog. Only to offset some salary, perhaps, but it'd have to be shorter-term deals like Greene's. Clifford for four more years would probably not be of interest.
I would think so. Muzzin is probably a more valued player, but Larsson's age balances out some of their difference.
no way LA lands land - rubberduckies
Nice alliteration! "LA Lands Landeskog" will be my headline. |

Not while the thought of Landy being on the market. Not to mention I'd imagine once JVR's contract is up hes going to get 6mil plus from someone. I think if LA is after a winger theyre gonna go after the cheaper contract of Landy. |

Muzzin is an analytics darling.
Avs are not an analytics team.
IF the Avs value Muzzin, along with a Clifford or another salary to make-weight the Landy cap hit, you have to assume they will want a pick or a prospect. That's probably where this deal would breakdown if DL has his mind set on strengthening the prospect pool after several years of shipping guys out for 1 playoff win since 2014. Kempe, Cernak, or anyone else on the farm would be in play. Pearson or Toffoli would be a deal breaker IMO.

With a year remaining on JvR's contract, he falls in the rental column. I don't see DL dealing a quality player like Muzzin or Martinez with a manageable cap hit or a prospect for JvR when the Kings are a fringe playoff team this year. |

I think LA would pass simply because of the money JVR is going to get. Also the same reason I think Toronto is going to trade him. Because hes going to cost to much while they have many young studs who themselves are gonna cost a fortune. |

Muzzin for Landy would be ok in my eyes. I would hate to see him go but Muzzy (dont knwo if he is called that but I will call him that if he was an Av) is the kind of Dman that would put my mind at ease when it comes to this D Core |

forget about the analytics angle for a minute, and forget about lining up talent in a one for one deal. i'm curious on how much GM's place value on the contract term and cap hits. from that aspect, Muzzin (as a top pair d) and Martinez (as a top 4 d who can play both sides) both have $4m cap hits for YEARS. that has to have additional value to any GM who receives the benefit of not just the player, but also the certainty of finances associated with that player.
in short, muzzin or martinez should garner a better player than we perceive as equal return, because of the economics that come with them. and for that i would think there's less need for dean to add more pieces to the deal to sweeten the pot.
