Great read! Love your work so far.
As far as I'm concerned our future on defence looks solid.
What worries (if any) do we have about LV trying to move some of our young D-men?
I'm sure we will protect our big 3(DD, Muzz, Marty) but what about Forbort, Gravel, or even this kid?

Trade Muzzin or Marty for a scorer. Landeskog or Tatar would be good.
Kings have the assets to make it happen. Or the long shot, go get Duchene for the right price |

Hmmm as tempting as that sounds, I'm always leery about trading D for O. (Although that Carter for Johnson trade was MONEY).
Maybe I'm the minority here(heh literally) but I like a strong defense.
How about if LV doesn't pick up Brown we package him up with Mcnabb for Doughie
Hamilton from Cal? Sure he's not having the best year, but on a defensive minded team he might do better?
Its basically swapping bad contract for bad contract? |

Thanks!
LaDue is exempt from Expansion Draft. I believe Forbort trending ahead of all other young dmen in terms of who LA would protect. |

are they setting up for a trade, or are they just realizing that Gilbert Greene and McNaab are unreliable?

I'm usually opposed to trading D for O but in the kings case with LaDue in the waiting and now finally called up, I think they need to go get a scorer for a Dman at the deadline or in the offseason if this season doesn't go anywhere. It's tough decision to make a trade when quick is out |

Brown probably played his best game of the season last night. not that I want him but it's nice to see him skating and not falling down for no reason every 5 seconds |

Something about that heat map in your tweet seems off. Dwight King's score from behind the goal line came from the goaltender's left side, not right. |

As a skilled, puck-moving defenseman with defensive and consistency issues, he'll fit right in. Even his number is perfect.
Seriously, I think that this call-up is less about need and more about the trade deadline. Management wants to get a taste of how he looks in the NHL before they make a decision and trade him to someone like Colorado or trade someone else with the hope that he might eventually grow into his shoes. It could also serve to showcase him. Perhaps a good showing by him would be enough to persuade another club to lower its asking price (ex. instead of LaDue and a 1st for a scoring forward, maybe LaDue and just a 2nd).
Basically, this call-up gives Lombardi more data and options from which to make a decision prior to the deadline. After all, it's pretty unusual for this management to call up first-year pros like this (especially ones with things still to work on). They prefer to let their prospects play a full year in the AHL first. Even Toffoli wasn't called up quite this early and he was the highest-scoring rookie in the league. This isn't due to a rash of injuries on defense, either. They're healthy and even waived a decent player to bring him up (and, with that, likely cap savings prior to the trade deadline). This is all most unusual, so something seems to be up (not that something will happen, but Lombardi gives himself more information and options). |

even if DL does nothing but stand pat, it gives LaDue a chance to be in the bigs for a cup of coffee, see what it takes to prepare to be a pro at the NHL level on a consistent basis. really no downside to this at all. |

The heat maps don't represent the side the goals were scored on. Teams are assigned one of two sides.

i'm wondering if he meant to reply to the msg you were replying to.
i'm with you, i think we need to supplement the offense by trading some defense. given how hard it is to find right shot d like ladue, makes sense to deal a lefty if feasible. |

I see what you are talking about. The guy needs to get a real clue and figure out how to reply to a specific person. It's not that hard.
But yeah, LAneeds scoring and LA has the assists to make a trade for a good top 6 forward. |
