THey said they are offering Butcher an ELC once the Pios are done so we will see

Rocco and Siemens could get new contracts, they are still good AHL guys and young.

Want the 1st overall but do not want Liljegren in the Top 5. Hes not good enough to be selected in that range

Will butcher will have a contract offer from the avs after the frozen 4. I agree I wouldn't not be superised is both got a 1yr 2way deal. But no, if we get 1st OA we are drafting Nolan Patrick. Lilijgren isn'teve the best d in this draft

I was at the game but too drunk and too occupied by a female who may not have even realized that hockey is played on a frozen sheet of water (not based on gender I know tons of hockey smart females!) what I do know is that I sat Duchene in my $1000 payout fantasy hockey championship week more real and fantasy points tonight for Duchy than literally the last 6 weeks combined.... First year living in Denver and Pepsi Center is a nice facility. Fun win for Avs fans Id imagine and no injuries is a win for the Hawks!

Why all the hate on Liljegren? Why would we draft Patrick? The kid can't stay healthy. Have we learned nothing from the Oilers ? We have the worst D Core in the league by a wide margin. I like Hischier but I hope we get the 3rd overall pick so were forced to take a D-man.

Lots of hate on Chychrun last year and he fell. Ended up starting and doing ok in his first season for a crappy Arizona team.


Generally speaking, its the best policy to take the best player available in the first and sometimes the second round. Then draft by organizational need. If I had to guess, the avs will take a forward, then attempt to trade for a top D man. Hope they can find one.

I dont have the answer. But if the AVS do get the #1 pick this year. IMHO, this would be the year to trade the # 1

I dont think they'll be able to pull off a Lindros for Forsberg, Steve Duschene, Ron Hextall, Mike Ricci, Kerry Huffman, Joceyln Thibault, Chris Simon type deal. But Garth Snow is still a GM, so who knows ! !

He has had a very bad development year. Every big international tournament that he has been on he has looked bad. Some scouts say he is looking like to be following the kylington path at the draft. He will slide bc of his bad showing this year and isnt even a Top 5 ranked prospect when looking around some of the ranking.

Liljegren is still a good prospect but dont leave talent on the board bc you "need a dman". When the Avs trade Duchene and get that other 1st round pick there are way more notable dman in the 10-20 range that are more exciting than Liljegren at the moment

I dont think you trade it. Patrick and Nico are both very Meh right now, neither of them had good playoffs (Patrick being hurt for his). And thats the lasting memory of them before the Draft.

What a year to have a top pick. I only really feel comfortable with Tippett in the Top 5

We really messed up by being horribly bad this year. We should have done this last year. Can you imagine Matthews or Laine in this lineup? Instead we are in a position of, "I guess we take this guy".

I am not a Patty Roy hater of him, its not a personal attack of one of my favourite players of all time, but the negative impact that he had on this organization cant be ignored. He really screwed this team over. THey never stayed the course after the first season of Roykic. His desire to win trumped building the team from the AHL up.

If he would have swallowed his pride and just let them go the course even after 2013 they would have been in a way better place now.

But granted the in those years, Avs did draft Rantanen and Jost at the 10 spot so they at least got that out of those trying to win with a bad team years

There is no hate on him, he will be good but right now there are 5 fwds and probably 2 d guys that are better than him. With 1st OA you draft the beat possible. That's Nolan Patrick this year. Hischier is the second. After that you can make a aseptic for about 4 different guys. Just because he had injury doesn't make him any less good. Gallagher in Montreal missed most of his draft and didn't lose any momentum.

If we get third I doubt we go defense. Vilardi, Tippett, mittlestadt are all worthyour of the pick. If we manage to trade 9 away we should get another 1st. That's the defense pick. Unless the top 6 of this year are gone ( makar, Valimaki, Heiskanen, Foote, hauge and Lilijgren) you go for one of these guys.

I disagree. If you have a shot at getting Nolan Patrick you do it. People are down on him because he is the 1st OA projected that's not a "generational" player BUT you're getting the best 2 way center prospect, in a top 3 position since 2006 (Jordan stall, toews) that's damn good company. Please note I said top 3, not ever drafted. But a 2 way C, who can defend against the best and score you don't pass up. Think O'Reilly, Stastny, Little, toews defensive awareness good right away. That's what he bring to the table. The avs best season was when we had our top 2 lines being centered by great two way centers. Defensively sound with scoring.

Vilardi would be a great pick too. Might be a weaker draft, but there are still some sneaky good picks.

Still think you guys should trade down and draft Foote. Its destiny.
