Leino signed here at a time when we desperately needed centers. Richards was signed and Leino became the fallback. I remember Regier saying that Leino had played some center in Europe or in highschool or something, and the day Leino signed, he gave an answer like "I'm not really a center."


Idk if he saw a big payday and took it even though he knew it was a bad fit, but dear god, the possession player that beat us in the playoffs the year before just never showed up.

Interesting. Remember the commercials that played on MSG that welcomed Richards to NY and had this dramatic voice over that said something like "With great reward comes great expectation..."
