Makes a ton of sense, myself and glove_was_stuck were just discussing this yesterday. Ty what do you think a package would look like? |

A guess, and this is just from some informed info and some speculation?
18th overall, Spooner, Morrow, Zboril.
Again, that's just a guess. |

that is what i figured a package would be set around but didn't know if Minnesota would be sold on Spooner or want to protect him. |

I'm confused. If the wild are planning to trade a D-man cause they can not protect them. it would be done before the protected lists are due. So that would mean that the Bruins would need to protect that player. removing a spot for one of the other players. Who is the current 3 D-man they are protected and who get left exposed if they make a trade for another top 4 d-man? |

I would protect brodin over k. Miller, who is rumored to be the third d man the bruins would protect |

If the bruins got brodin, I wouldn't miss k. Miller or McQuaid if either got selected |

Does this mean the B's are leaning towards life without Chara vs extending him? Seems odd the B's would be this eager to add a top 4 LHD if Chara was in their plans going forward, especially with O'Gara, Zboril, Lauzon and Lindgren in the pipline |

My guess is if Chara gets anything it will be one more, 1 yr contract. Beyond that I don't think they need him. He should be knocking on retirements door |

I disagree. Guy is a freak athlete and could be the next Chelios. I see Chara playing 3 more seasons as more of a shut down/PK specialist if we get a guy like Brodin. Limit his ice time to 15 mins per night, and treat him as bottom pairing Dman. He will still be effective in the right situations, and what he brings in leadership/mentorship is priceless. |

I know Brodin has played well but I don't watch a lot of Wild games either. Isn't this a bit of an overpayment? You're essentially trading 2 1st rounds picks for someone who is not considered elite. |

Your blatant and inexplicable hate for Chara aside, the guy is 40. YOU HAVE TO start planning for that. I would argue they started 2 seasons ago. Top D men are rarely acquired via trade or free agent signing.
Back in 2006 I'm sure you were 100% on board if were even a fan back then. The B's benefitted from a colossal blunder by Ottawa. Which was on the heels of a Milbury special. Honestly how often does that happen? Chara has had more great years here than bad ones. Show a little respect. |

Chara is not Tom Brady, and people should stop treating him like he's anything close. He had some great years, now he's (frank)ing toast. At the end of this contract he should be thanked for his service, and if he wants to stick around as a defensive coach... fantastic. |

Uhh, you got the wrong guy buddy, I've defended Chara as much as anyone on these boards. Just figure if the B's acquire a top 4 LHD with term, probably means they don't see Chara staying for much longer |

Seems like it could go any direction, Chara talks like he wants to be Jagr 2.0, and the team seems to be preparing for life without him. I just don't want to see him in another jersey |

Wrong Bill! Chara has several good seasons left in him and they should be played in Bruins silks.
Pull his numbers and compare them with everyone else's. He no longer super elite, but he's still among the leaders in his position. Fact. |

also a fact that he was the still the best defenseman on the team last year. |

Showing some respect and not being a complete c*nt towards the guy does not put him in on Brady's level. Could you be more hyperbolic? He was great for this team for a long time. You treat the guy like he is Kevin Stevens for crissakes. |
