Thanks once again JJ for relaying what you hear!
You and others (Grasso @rumor break and Jay Zawaski) are in the same page on Kruger. And there are others (Grasso @rumorbreak) who have Seabrook or at least some serious smoke around moving a core player (JZ) too. These things are so fluid but when you start to hear the same things from multiple places it ads some weight to the rumors.
Thinking things are heating up a bit earlier than I expected - especially for the Hawks. - |

Im 100% fine dealing seabrook and Kruger and AA. Reshuffling the deck with some $ in hand for Bowman.
Lets do it |

If Benning ever did trade for Seabrook and a pick he use to own (Forsling) then I hope he would be fired immediately. |

If Seabrook was to waive I think Toronto would be more likely. Young fast team and Babcock. |

FWIW, I heard that was a deal the Hawks would offer around that time (last Sunday). I do not know how Vancouver responded or where it went except to say that the teams were still talking as of a day or two ago. Toronto sounds like it has some legitimacy as of last night. |

Yeah, I don't know where Michael is getting the Hossa and Crawford stuff, because I am not hearing that right now and I think both are difficult logistically. But he has legit stuff often. |

As far as salary dumps go, Seabrook (+) for Tanev (+) wouldn't be too bad at all. Don't get me wrong, from a normal hockey perspective I wouldn't make this trade but as far as salary dumps go it's not bad. |

Toronto makes sense, Vancouver would be a dumb trade.
I like Seabrook but it makes zero sense from a Canuck trade .

Vancouver is his hometown. There are downsides to Toronto. But it s a team on the rise where his leadership could drive them up a notch.
it also greatly depends on what the other teams offer and whether he would waive for either.
I would also not rule out some other clubs as I hear there is a lot of interest. I just have not heard specifics and i won't just make them up. |

Salary Dumps. Thats where we are at unfortunnatley I bet anything the Blackhawks projected the cap would be around 84 Million by now back 4 years ago. Cap staying level has hurt a lot. |

If Seabrook went to Toronto, it would stir up a fuss. He is same age as Phaneuf, has nearly the same contract in terms of $000. But his contract runs a bunch of years longer than Dion. |

I know hes from Vancouver , and thats nice and everything but didnt his parents house get vandalized or something after the Hawks lost the Vancouver ? I thought I remember reading something like that. Plus if the Hawks got a list of 2 from Seabrook Im sure theyd prefer to move him East. |

The Dion vs Brent argument has been going on for a long, long time. Both are good players and both are leaders.
3 cups vs 0 cups.
(The retort/counter argument): Hey that's only because he is on a good Chicago team!
Seabrook > Dion

Canucks and leafs are both trying to rebuild... don't see why either team or any team would trade for a 32 year old defenceman that doesn't put up much offensively with over six years left on his contract getting over 6 million/year |

just want to add, this summer is a mixed bag from the rumor reporting standpoint:
POSITIVES:
A lot of legit rumors and conversatins out there, so a lot to report rtegularly
NEGATIVES
Due to expansion, and the Hawks' situation, especially re: the Cap and the tougher challenge for Bowman (lose $$ and get younger, but younger and cheaper with NHL experience), a lot of these things won't pan out.
So bear with me, I am reporting what I am hearing and not adding a lot of editorial to it. When I say a Kruger deal to LV is close, it's because that's what I keep hearing. But nothing is guaranteed until the league announces it. |

Very good defenceman with a winning pedigree who are relatively injury free will always be in demand around the NHL. You win championships with those type of players.
If Stanbo knows Seabs will waive for the right location, there will be all kinds of interest from Tampa, Washington, Dallas, Boston, Toronto, Columbus, Edmonton. I don't view this as a salary dump only. #7 has value.

Because . . . as I'VE reported, I don't think it's just "take on his deal for draft picks."
I think the Hawks are adding sweeteners (prospects/young players). And Toronto's rebuild is ahead of Vancouver's, so a guy with Seabrook's experience could be a nice add for a good, young team that's getting closer, like they are. |
