Thanks for the update, JJ.

What do you think of going after Ron Hainsey?

I wanted them to get him last year at the deadline. He's older, but he brings a solid defensive game and can play on the top pairing.

I know they're going younger, but it could be a nice/cheaper pickup.

Love the updates JJ. Keep it up.

I am not big on Alzner. I think the cost and term will be too much for what he brings. Whatever moves are made, I look forward to seeing them. Kruger moving out on July 2nd or so should be one of the first moves to begin the others.

Also, Maybe an addition like E Kane of some other Winger can be had early in the year when the Hossa money is freed up (Cuz, I believe that doesn't happen until after game 1 of the season....yes?)

Regardless, I think we see TWO re-tooling periods....Now, to head into the season....and another decent move or two between season start and the trade deadline....

Gonna be an interesting year, and our team gonna take on quite a different look once all the dust settles!

On the surface, out of context, I'd say pass for a variety of reasons.

But I also think you literally can't rule anything out—except really high ticket salary players. Which is why I think Alzner (who is gonna get bid up on Saturday) is probably not happening, same perhaps with E. Kane.

Makes sense and thanks for the comment.

Personally, my fear is they'll go for a Shattenkirk-type guy and end up overpaying--even though they don't have the room...

I'm looking forward to seeing the new defensive group, though. Really excited to see Murphy play. Liking what I'm reading and that he's a bigger frame and physical presence--which the Hawks really need on the blueline. Would be nice for teams to get teams to think ttwice a bit before entering the zone

Funny you bring up Simon Despres... thought to myself if he is healthy, he screams an under-the-radar off-season signing by Stan.

According to EK, he wants to play for the Preds, but Islander, Pens and Lightning are most interested. He didn't mention the Hawks, but who knows.

Take it with a grain of salt...

I think we know Kruger is gone on Saturday.
Any change on the Anisimov status? Trade or hold?
Any indication how soon the NHL will rule on the Hossa LTIR situation? If they agree to LTIR is there any indication if the Hawks will consider this career ending and move his contract right away.
With Sharp's injury I would think there will be no rush to sign him. They may get him to come in on a tryout contract to see how ready he is to play.

Folin was very good with Brodin before he went down with an injury... Im shocked that Fletcher let him walk. He plays with an edge, has a good shot and would probably excel with the Hawks IF he's healthy.

Good thoughts.

I hope they avoid Sharp entirely. I feel like this is a good time to let the younger guys get a chance and start developing. The aging/injured Sharp would take up a roster spot of a guy who could really benefit from it.

Just my opinion, but, I'd rather have a guy like Hayden getting experience than a guy like Sharp in the lineup.

I guess you could get him and just keep him as a depth guy in a diminished role and slot him in when you need him/when it makes sense.

The age and injury are just huge red flags to me. Not to mention that I'm not a big fan of bringing past players back. Haha.

He has a couple of years left on his deal, but the asking price from CO is very high. Also he makes $6 million per.

Hossa LTIR may factor in especially vis a vis free agent moves. Which is why I think the Hawks likely move a contract or two yet this week. For sure? Hard to say. I am hearing "fluid" situation, much being explored, emphasis on defense depth right now.

I haven't seen this in the recent blogs, but I might have missed it, so I apologize if it was addressed. I thought that AA has a modified or limited movement clause, but it doesn't go into effect until July 1st, 2017. Is that the case or is he going to be required to waive if he's going to be traded? I would think if it is the former, the Hawks are on the clock to get him moved if he is a trade piece.

"Could the top 6 LW acquired also be that secondary face-off option—a natural left winger who is also effective in the dot. Those guys are out there."

With that wish list and Stan's head touching the ceiling of the cap, I think the above makes total sense.

Ganger, Marleau, Sharp for UFAs fit the mold but options via trade too.

I still think going after a guy like Adam Henrique from nJD is a good move to play with Kane. He's okay at the dot(48%) and has a good all around game, can play wing and take important draws for Mr 30% Nick Schmaltz. He's also capable of doing the board and in front of the net game too despite not having significant size. He's not overly $$ either.

JJ, what do you think it would take to acquire him?
