So, who does the new GM of the Sabres and coach move after watching the film or due to the fact they don't fit into the system and they don't want to pay them the monster deal they will want? Who will we be surprised by, hmmm, Kane wouldn't be that surprise, see ya Sam |

isnt he signing an extension though? him moving would totally be a surprise
Edit: lol at moster deal the only one who's asked for a big deal to date is kane, nothing out of reinharts camp |

It would be 50/50 and has been in trade rumors for the last year or so and would be a fine move to sign him; Sam would be the Sammy Watkins jaw dropper |

signing reinhart to a bridge deal wouldn't exactly break the team either.
Wasnt part of the decision to move Watkins money related? if anything moving ROR would fit that criteria as a jaw dropper.
It wouldn't shock me at all if Botts moved one of Kane or Reinhart. Him moving ROR or Okposo or something like that would be surprising. |

Unless you get Tavares, which would totally numb the shock, there is no way you trade ROR |

That wasn't the feeling with Sammy Watkins though. He was damaged, they didn't offer him an option for a 5th year so he wasn't on a pedestal. |

Wayne Gretzky played in the easy NHL, with tiny goalies who wore tiny pads and weren't athletic.
We can then take his 2700 NHL points and basically half that, rounded up to 1400 points, since he played in the higher scoring NHL.
He isn't the great one, afterall.
Just like how Andre Reed would be the greatest WR of all time if he played in today's pass-happy NFL. |

He would't though, because many WR that played during his time were better than him.
I was a little surprised to see Reed make the HOF tbh. |

Read the last 3 pages of the previous thread.
I blasted Andre Reed and basically called him overrated, but also projected Sammy Watkins' career path to follow a similar trajectory.
Then I think Chillard said something about pro-rating his stats to today's NFL, which would be a 20% increase in production and would still only give him two seasons over 1500 yards receiving, which if we're creating a new standard, would become the "new" 1000 yard season and would still make Andre Reed an above average WR that honestly shouldn't be in the HoF, IMO.
He then failed to acknowledge the massive amount of garbage time stats that opposing teams, players, referees and the Commish allow to happen to pad stats for the sake of fantasy football.
You tell me one 90's team that let their opponent rack up points and yardage in garbage time. There isn't one. Miraculously, this all coincides with fantasy football becoming a money machine. |

If you put a 20% increase on Andre Reeds stats his yards would be 15,600...3rd All Time. Andre Reed is a HOFer period

And if he played in today's NFL, he would have gotten lit up as much as Wes Welker.
There are too many variables to pro-rate any stats from any bygone era, is my point.
I also think the only Elite players in Bills history are OJ Simpson, Thurman Thomas and Bruce Smith, btw. About the only 3 HoF worthy, since they just throw everyone in there these days. |

By the way, you'd have to put a 20% increase on ALL WR STATS before 2005, which would place him firmly down around 20, where he currently is. |

Wes Welker is 5'9 185 Andre Reed is 6'2 190 and played in an era where there wasn't as much emphasis on protecting WRers...
I don't see your logic there. |

That's fair but still he is one of the top 20 WR's of all time and he doesn't belong in the hall then??
Come on now |

Thats fair. A deal for Kane or Reinhart still wouldnt be a surprise to anyone. It would just leave 50% of people here pissed depending on who it was. |

If Reinhart is moved for a top 2 defensemen I think most of us would be extremely happy.
If Kane is moved for spare parts I don't think people would be happy.
It all depends on the return.
If you're getting roster players in deals for these two I think most would be fine, if it's just prospects and picks people would not be happy. |

How many arguments have gone on about what qualifies as a top end defencemen? It would drive a lot of people nuts. Ive heard Tanev get compared to gorges here. That pretty much says it all.
The other half would go into the classic "why do we keep giving up on young players" as if a trade to make your team better is an indication of the organization giving up on a guy
