Any Devils past or present have the number #69? Looking for a new jersey. |
|
|
|
The NHL needs to address this college loophole. It's not that big a deal or that difficult a problem. Just make the acquiring team give the pick back to team that drafted the player. So if we drafted Kerfoot in the 5th round the acquiring team would give us a 5th rounder.
The Rangers got a compensatory pick from the league when one of their prospect died playing overseas. I think it was Alexei Cherepanov. (We didn't with Alexander Vasyunov - RIP). But my point is it's not that difficult a problem. |

No. Jagr wore 68 and Blake Speers wore 74 are the closest.
The most common number is 22 which has been worn by 34 different franchise players (going back to Kansas City). |

the Rangers got a compensatory pick for Cherepanov because every team gets a compensatory pick in 2nd round if they dont sign their first rounder, the Black Hawks got one after Rangers signed Kevin Hayes
can't start giving comp picks for every single round that doesn't work out, the draft will end up having a million compensatory picks |

No it won't. Total exaggeration of the situation.

Do these NCAA kids have to be signed to a ELC or do they sign as a RFA to the new club they sign with? |

what's the criteria you are talking about then? the Rangers didn't sign 2014 fourth round pick Ryan Mantha and then Edmonton signed him.
would Rangers get compensatory pick for that too?
I am not exaggerating the situation, it's exactly the situation
teams don't sign later round picks all the time |

It's still happening way too often. They should be forced to re-draft next season. |

Well if the team doesn't want them anymore that's a different situation |

I was talking about compensation for college players that use the system to become free agents and then pick where they want to play. If a drafting team doesn't want to sign a player they drafted then they can walk away.

in the case of Kerfoot though, the Devils drafted him from a Canadian junior team and he still played another year in that league before deciding not to sign with Devils and then decided to go to college
it's just too hard to make a compensatory rule for this case, IMO |

Well the good news is you and I don't have to fix it. The league and union do.
So regardless of whether Kerfoot's specific condition would or would not be covered they need to address the larger issue overall.

oh sorry missed that part.
Yeah you cant really increase compensation here, it just sucks.
What the NCAA needs to do is just allow for kids to sign their ELCs and still hold their eligibility. And the NHL needs to allow them ELCs to slide until they formally leave the NCAA |

Newark-Buffalo-Las Vegas. Interesting. We better hustle him over to Manhattan to increase our sex appeal. Not that you can out hustle Vegas, but they do have a lot of defenseman on their roster.
Kapla will be the next Randy Velischek. They're almost the exact same size. |
