I'm just as interested to see what Zacha will bring in his 2nd full season (this could be tomorrow's blog.. if this could be called a blog).
I'm really hoping for a big jump from Zacha, hopefully doubling his points from 24p in 70gp to 50p in 75gp(?). I want to see his big body + skill be more assertive and confident with the puck, especially with extra room on the PP. I want to see Hall, Zacha, Hischier, Henrique, Palmieri, Johansson, and Severson really do some good things on the PP.
Does anyone remember the PP D pairs last year? or did they mostly use 1 D per PP unit? Severson and.. Greene? They may want to give Greene the rest while we have a powerplay and give Moore the time instead. Greene's an old man now in hockey years. I remember when he had his breakout season in 09-10. Those were exciting times. He's been a good character and good player for us. |

If he's playing with Hall I'd put him down for 25 goals and 45 assists... |

If he's playing with Hall, he'll be playing big minutes vs guys like Crosby, Backstrom, and Giroux every night. I don't know that NJ wants that |

15g & 40p I would be very happy with for a 18 year old rookie. My worry is him staying healthy also not being pushed around in the NHL, like Mattias Tedenby who was a absolute bust. |

I'd like to see him somewhere between 45-55 points. But I wouldn't be disappointed with a 40 point season from him. |

Tedenby wasn't a bust because he got pushed around. He was a bust because he had zero hockey sense. Ray Ferraro described Yakupov as playing like he's being chased by a swarm of bees (not meant as a compliment, clearly) and this reminds me of how Tedenby played as well. |

the best player had 53 points on the devils last year. I highly doubt a rookie out of Junior is going to crush that total. |

The write up for Mattais http://www.eliteprospects...om/player.php?player=6013
has his hockey sense as good but his size is a factor. He did very well and continues to in HV71. The few games I saw him play he was getting hammered and his speed and I guess hockey sense was negated by the physical play.
I see Nico as a bigger kid but he needs to fill out more, Hopefully his hockey sense can make the jump to the physicality of the NHL. |

The thing about Teddy that I loved, was he was fearless. He could have taught some Devils how to play like a man. Dude went into dirty areas, got drilled then got right back up and back into it. |

Very true, But he got drilled a lot, he seemed to get thrown around easy maybe because of his size.

Adding two skilled forwards isn't going to hurt their chances |

Expect him to not be as good as Nolan Patrick - YuenglingJagr
Being a bigger (and slightly older) kid, Patrick could certainly have an easier transitioning to the NHL. He will also be joining a more productive offense.
So in raw numbers it would hardly be a surprise to see Patrick out produce Nico initially. We'll see who develops into a better player. |

My thinking is 72GP - 15G - 23 A - 38P
I'm mirroring what Nik Ehlers did in his rookie season even though he was a year older. Ehlers had more talent around him and played wing, but Nico should get more ice time. |

I could see Nico getting more PP time, so I wouldn't necessarily agree. I was really just making a joke. I expect the Flyers to bring Patrick along pretty slowly in terms of sheltering and responsibility |

I forgot if I read something or heard Nolan interviewed, but he came off as kinda not a personality I would want. And when you hear Nico interviewed you would think he was picked dead last. I would wager the Devils chose him, at least partially because he is such a team first player, which is a perfect for a Devil. |
