Please! Shane Doan is far from a Legend. Legends are guys like Gretzky, M.Lemieux, Bobby Orr and Gordie Howe. A guy who only averaged 46 points a season and had 0 scoring titles is not a legend. He was a good player but he was not even in the same league as the legends of the game.

He's not a HOFer, but he's a legend in the sense of a folk hero is a legend. So local legend would be more appropriate, but that's splitting hairs.

Paul Bunyun was a legend and he didnt even exist!!

Jeez dog, cut the kid some slack here. Who cares how you define 'legend'? My boy is a legend in the PX and that's all that this is about.
Seriously, what makes a person take time out of their day to point out that Shane Doan isn't in the class of Bobby Orr?

He began his career back in 1995 when Donald Trump was a joke, Will and Grace was popular, and the world was struggling with terrorism, and environmental degradation. - Tanner
It's people like you who give the Oxford comma a bad name.
Doan should have retired 2 years ago. I do not think he wad offered a contract by any team this year . In a fast man's game he looks very oit of place. Iginla should be the next to announce. Jarg however, he just defies all logic and I expect him to sign a 1 year deal for 2 mil with bonuses for another 2. SJ and Edmonton are frontrunners I hear.

Shane Doan has been my favourite player for many years. I've got a Shane Doan Team Canada sweater. Couldn't get a Phoenix sweater because they're hideous. haha
You have obviously never interacted with someone from Phoenix. - James_Tanner
Actually I have spoken to many people from Phoenix and they didnt even know what Hockey was never less who Shane Doan was. Clearly the State is flooded with hockey fans since Bankruptcy is the talk around the Coyotes every year......
Doan was a good player. It's a little sad he never was able to achieve much with his team, but I suppose his loyalty is commendable.
For those complaining about the whole "legend" status, I'd consider Doan a legend in Phoenix, just like how Tie Domi is practically a legend in Toronto and still making money with those stupid Comwave commercials.
Maybe Doan can get a gig selling phone and internet services!
Seriously though, every team has fan favorite players that are basically legends in their particular city (or with the fans elsewhere) and I could easily name 5 or 6 for TO off the top of my head that people in other fanbases would likely argue about.
Those aren't really related tho 😂. A blogger's opinion of a defenseman and the president of our country carry a little bit of different weight. - ZechsMarquise
Ironic that most would expect a hockey blogger to be more knowledgeable about the defenseman.
David Runblad was successful whenever he got ice time and I thought he had potential to be a top four defenseman. The last time we seriously discussed him was two years ago. And at the time, it wasn't even close to a hot take or anything - tons of people were surprised he didn't stick in the NHL given his success when he played.
If I said directly, with no qualifications, that I think that he is a top four NHL defenseman today, right now, then sure, make fun of that, because that would be stupid.
As far as things I've said that turned out to be wrong, that doesn't even crack the top one million anyways.
We can all agree that, no matter our political stripes, that it is funny that the President's peers up until two years ago were Dog the Bounty Hunter, Hulk Hogan, Ron Jeremy, and Screech.
That is a stone cold reality. He was in playboy videos and the WWF. He had a catch phrase.
All political opinions aside, that's still really hilarious and messed up.
