Any idea on if he is back at his playing weight from last year ? I liked his game last year until he was hurt, .. I know the peanut gallery will tell you that he and contract are not compatible, but I think the kids got chutzpah, and competes like a S.O.B.

If Jack signs before the season starts that's outstanding. If he doesn't, that's outstanding as well because he'll really want to prove that he is a $10 million+ man. Also not concerned about Kane. If he signs for a reasonable salary @ $5 - $6 million average, that's fantastic. If he doesn't, Jbots will trade him at the deadline and should get a decent haul for him.

Can't wait for the boys to hit the ice starting with the prospect challenge this weekend.

The only urgency to sign Jack now is try to get him a hair cheaper. A great season might elevate his s worth by a million or so per, but if he's worth it, so what? The advantage in waiting from the Sabres perspective is that you're not basing his salary on hope, and although it's unlikely he'll fail to meet expectations, it's still a gamble, albeit minor.

Don't fear the offer sheet. They are as rare as unicorns.

IMO a single word tells us everything we need to know:

adamant: refusing to be persuaded or to change one's mind.

barring anything weird happening or injuries occurring, eichel's primed for a breakout season...

from what I've heard and gathered, the term is set and they're probably real close on salary...am wondering if structure is the hang-up

What a tease, i thought you were gonna tell us who's playing left wing on that line.

Jk, good write up. I'm not worried about Eichel. It'll get done one way or another. If he plays this season without a contract, look out, his stats will be even better

so I could've save a lot of time by just having a title that said, Jack Eichel about staying in Buffalo.

with the story being one word, "adamant"

I'll keep that in mind

Yeah all I'm saying is it's not a panic situation. The cost certainty would be nice heading into free agency next July though.

the only one that may be panicking is jr. and those who want to catch mike Harrington's ire

I always like your stuff, Pach. But a few of the regulars here have been distracted by Jack's contract status and it seems like an overreaction to me.

I'll start up this thread-breaker again, simply because I'm part masochist: our team will benefit immensely from the change in coaching and culture; we will get much improved seasons from many players who looked like underachievers last year; Jack is going to break the frank out this year in a big way; Housely and company will get the defense playing at least average hockey; we will be good this year.

I get that...but there are others who are not and still many others, maybe newbies, who might welcome contextual information which includes not only the contract stuff, but jack's views on a "fresh start" as well

Well you did Kane before Reinhart so I had a hunch.

It's gonna be Pouliot isn't it? Oh god it's pouliot
