Nice job Dan and Noel. I thought you guys would drop the gloves for a second there. I need to see de Haan get more than 20 points if he wants 5 mill. He should be a 40 point dman. We do have to see how the year plays out with de Haan, Pulock, Toews, and Wotherspoon.

Snow has to keep the letting players with value walk tradition alive! It's just makes so much sense especially when they're Islander first round picks!

Snow will go after a Subban/Doughty type D-man thinking there's no way he won't get him (ala Stamkos). With that mindset, he won't make an offer to CDH. Why would he? After all, Snow is going to land the biggest D-man on the market. CDH will walk for nothing & Snow will be left with his d!ck in his hand. Typical, classic Snow move.

i think if DeHaan is having a big season you trade him. If he was difficult to sign as a RFA he will be impossible to sign as a UFA.
Same could probably be said for Nelson.

Pick which on you want to spend your money on. All i can say is DeHaan was drafted in 2009 and last year was his first good and HEALTHY season. By NHL standards it wasnt like it was great. A player like Pelech, Pulock and Toew could easily surpass a DeHaan. Same way i think Mayfield has potential to be better than Hamonic.

If i was asked who to resigned to longer deal, i would take Nelson long term over DeHaan Long term.

-Christian Erhoff was offered monster close to 10mm a year contract that he said no to and signed with Buffalo. Buffalo regrets that contract.
-Dan Boyle was offered monster contract that he rejected and went to Rangers. Snow go so lucky that we were able to land Leddy and Boychuk after and we would be without those guys today.
-Vanek was offered huge deal he rejected to go to Minn. Vanek now making 2mm a year in vancouver. I hope he gave his Wife earful walking away from 60MM from islanders.

Those were only ones that came to mind. please chime in if you can think of other ones. there are definitely a few i am missing.

You're only looking at it in one context and basing it on the end result. Any or all of those signings could have gone totally different had they accepted. Perhaps Boyle doesn't get injured and is an outstanding D-man. Erhoff's shot would have been beneficial for the PP. Maybe he would have been a stud. We all know what Vanek did with JT. Everywhere else he went, he didn't have JT to ride shotgun with. Again, could have been big. Based on what actually transpired in their respective careers, yes, he was lucky they didn't sign here. You never know what might have been though.

Hamonic was outstanding all over the ice... ... ...whenever he was playing against Malkin and the Pens.

He seemed to have a lot of trouble keeping that edge and extra nastiness on a consistent basis. That said, he was perfectly serviceable even when he wasn't playing pissed off, and he ate a ton of minutes. It wouldn't surprise me if the kids are able to step up and fill in admirably, but I wonder if they'll be able to make up all those minutes over 82 games.

I loved Hamonic, he was probably my favorite non-Tavares Islander...but they won't have to replace 82-games-worth of his talent because he was injured so often. Looking back, the last "full" season that he played was the lockout year in which he played all 48 games. Since that season, the fewest amount of games that he missed in a given season has been 10. He's never played more than 73 games in a full season.

I'm gonna miss him, but this team was often without his services due to injury.
