He changed the call to get on with the game, but he actually made the correct call in the first place.

Except you were wrong. The center cheated on the draw, and you missed it. Then you assumed there was no way your fellow official saw something you didn't, that he must be making a call in error on what you saw.

and we wonder why refs do stupid things sometimes. It's too much of an old boy's club with these "unwritten" rules. Just call the game by the book and stop making it so personal and treating every player/situation differently. A penalty in 4-1 game in November should also be a penalty in game 7 of a playoff series. That's how the sport was meant to be played.

Seriously, what other major sports league changes the rule book in the playoffs like the NHL does? I still see flags thrown in NFL games where the stakes are even higher in a do or die setup. NBA refs still call a poop load of fouls in the playoffs. MLB umps still have the same strike zone.

Making a call to get on with the game and a ref who knew he was right reversing a call is absolutely ridiculous. That's something you'd expect to see in lower levels of hockey. Not by professional officials at the highest level of hockey.

i mean he's saying here that an official reversed a call just to shut up another official? right? but yeah let's make them part of the show.
