Negative I suppose, but I dont pertend I have said or insinuated that he is destined to be a minor league player because that's bs. I just don't see him as a top 6 player. big difference champ
- CanuckDon

Champ?

You are calling him a bottom 6 grinder who can "chip in" some goals are you not?

You said he has limited skills, lacks vision, lacks true size and power, and would have to change his game to be successful as a bottom 6 forward. If what you state is true then what makes him stand out from 500 other NHL eligible players? Nothing does.

Bottom 6 grinders who pot in 10 goals are fringe NHLers for (frank) sakes. You have to agree with that right? Is that not a veiled commentary on his ability as a meaningful NHLer?

For God's sake, can we please just put Megna and Chaput out to pasture (Utica)? I don't even want them taking up space on our scrimmage roster when we could be taking a harder look at someone else in that middle 6 spot.

If I see either on our opening night roster, I think I will lose it!

I say give the guy like 6 to 10 games in the NHL. What's the damage? The payout might be surprising but we'll never know unless he's given a shot.

If we were cup contenders then I would say hell no but we ain't. So why not?

I've been saying it for years, Subban simply isn't a good enough defence man to ever make the league even on a bottom pairing. He's shown no improvement on the defensive side, and doesn't seem offensively gifted enough to make up for it. I doubt Green (who was a dedicated d man in his own time) will have any interest in Subban, he seems like a good guy.... but he'll probably be headed to Europe soon.

Been hearing really good things about Upshall, folks really liked that 4th line in St Louis, he's pretty consistent and could be a good TDL flip in the spring.

I love how I get a ban for calling a guy a clown, yet this goes on all the time.

Plenty of solid NHL regulars, play bottom 6 and don't get a ton of goals. Look at half of Pittsburghs Forward lines.

I can definitely see Virtanen playing 2nd line in a few years, it would just depend on his line mates, he's not the type of guy to run an entire Lin, but put him with two other good forwards and I think he could be a good complimentary piece to the top 6 if he hits a lot.

I haven't given up on Virtanen, but I can see why people have, he's had a rough 3 years.

Virtanen has decent size, a solid shot and he is a greater skater. He has enough tools to be a strong bottom 6 player. Bottom 6 players are extremly important. Just look at the Penguins cup run. Are you encouraged by 19 points in the AHL? I mean, if we are comparing him to Jared than I guess it's acceptable. I think he will have an NHL career I just don't think he will live up to his expectations when he was drafted. Why do you think this is a crazy opinion?
