Nashville played them tough and I think the Flyers were up to the challenge.

You try to give the guy a break because he hasn't played in months, but Lehtera looked absolutely lost. If Weal is out again Saturday, I put Read in. It was hard to watch him play.

Ghost is a beast. I believe he buries a goal at the end there if Coots doesn't flub it.

I really focused a lot on Amac tonight, and it is crazy how much he puts himself out of position and then gets lost in the play.

Lehtera is no Top 9 forward in this league. I noticed Hakstol didn't shorten his bench until well into the 3rd, but he did spot Laughton up on the wing with Filppula and Simmonds late for at least one shift. I would have done that sooner. Numbers to focus on change a lot early. The Flyers have been shut out twice in their first seven games. Puts them on pace for 23 over 82 games. It's nice to pour pucks in when things are going good but you've got to be able to score when you NEED to.

Tough loss. Ekholm and Josi are pretty darn solid on D. Couts has a sweet toe drag. Jake needs an ugly goal to get going. There’s a force field blocking the net for him right now.

Here's a thought. If Weal is still out for the next game, send Read back down, and bring Martel up to fill Weal's spot. Similar player skill wise and a better skater than either of the vets too.

To your point, I think we are still a bona fide sniper away. Maybe we have an up-and- coming one

Lettera looked slow. He also didn’t seem to be engaged in the game.

As loose as the Preds were in Nashville, that is how tightly this game was checked. If it was not Rinne in goal I think the Flyers score three. But that could be wishful thinking.

Not a good debut for Lehterä. In fairness, he had not played a game since Sept. 28, and most of his recent practices were with other linemates (although he's periodically played with Filppula on the Finnish national team, and they were together some in the preseason). But if he's in the lineup for a bit, he'll need to be better than he was last night.

Flyers have beaten Rinne plenty over the years, until last night.

Do you know if Martel is ready or capable of playing in the NHL right now?

Depends on the type of game. In a game like last night's, he wouldn't have been too effective. A more run-and-gun type of game, he might be. Feisty little player, too.

Response to MJL:

Do you know he's not? Does anyone really ever know until the kid is given the opportunity? I believe Martel is in his 3rd year with LHV and has been one of the best forwards on the team so far. At some point, you need to give a kid a shot.

I find it hard to believe he could have been much worse than Lehtera was last night.

No, I don't know that he's not but I'm not advocating calling him up. My point is that you call him up if you think he can be effective in the lineup, not just because he is a similar player to Weal. If they think he is capable, then by all means call him up if Weal is out for a while.

My point was I think he can be a better player, right now, than Read or Lehtera. My second point was that no one can know if a kid is ready. They can think he's ready, but the only way to know for sure is to give him a shot. I'm not calling for him to come up to stay. I'm just suggesting that he might give them more for a game than Lehtera or Read.

Honestly, when you respond with "do you know that Martel is ready", you just come off as someone looking for an argument. I respect your hockey knowledge and I think you often make cogent points, but I also think you often respond to posts for no other reason than to start an argument.

Is that the 5 minute argument?

Yeah I thought he looked lost all game. I've watched him on the Blues before, so I know he knows how to play hockey, but he added nothing last night

(frank)ing quotes on page one suck.

Yes, that is the 5 minute argument. Although on here it usually upgrades to the full half hour version, sometimes it just never ends.
Watched the whole thing, love those guys.
I got to see them live in NYC in the 70s. Funniest thing ever. Waaaaaaaaay crazier live.
They did the lumberjack song. George Harrison was one of the Mounties. They did a few skits in the tribute to George concert that were done live and funny as hell.

I saw him some last year. Played a lot with Terasanko. (Spelling)?
Didn't look horrible. Now He looks slow and looked a little soft on the boards for a big guy.

Ghost, Gudas, and Sanheim had the most 5v5 ice time.

Hakstol was barely able to get the top line out against the Preds 3rd defense pair (they only played 11:30)
