That was a very solid game by the Flyers. I am impressed. Very impressed.
The defense played very well and didn't give up much against a very potent offense.
Losing Ghost SUCKS!!!
How that wasn't a penalty let alone a 5 minute major is beyond understanding!!!, if you didn't already understand that the officiating in this league is mickey mouse.
HNIC panel believe that Komorov will get a phone call and should be suspended.
Boy canβt but be happy to see Martel doing so well, maybe he could be a sleeper draft pick that turns into something special. Nice to see Lindblom starting to get his offensive game going.
the hit on Ghost was outrageous. Absolutely incredible that two officials can watch that and keep their arms down. While I know he's got a reputation, Gudas was tossed for a hit that was about a quarter of the viciousness.
When one of your top guys is now injured from something like that, I think the team is owed an explanation. This whole infallible officials crap is old. We as fans are owed an explanation.
how was komorov not given a 5 and a game for that hit he should be suspended - 2Real
Come on, I thought you guys were the Broad Street Bullies! I figured Gostisbehere would've went to the bench, chugged a beer, let a out a big WOOOOOOOOOO like Ric Flair and then would have went and started punching Komarov's face in!!
On a serious note though, it was not a pretty hit and even though no penalty on the play, I figure he's going to get 2-5 game suspension. Hope the Ghost is not out too long.

If his nameplate had read "Gudas", you could guarantee 5 and a game and a week's vacation. But its Komarov, so everything's cool. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Officiating in all sports is getting worse and worse. These guy' s can miss calls if their assigned to watch only one player

Great game, but possibly at a huge cost. - FloHaake
That and his physical play...I get the three rookie argument but at this point I think he could really help. Guess we will see. - landros 2
I understand the game has changed quite a bit from the 70s and 80s and the day of the goon is gone and good riddance. However, there is still a physical element to the game and at least a small degree of physical intimidation. The Flyers best fighter currently happens to be one of their best players and he weighs all of 185 pounds. Gudas can somewhat be intimidating with his hitting, but, due to his reputation, he's a marked man by officials and will almost always end up in the box.
The Flyers don't need someone to immediately respond by jumping Komorov and picking up 2, 5 and a game. What they need is an intimidating 6'7 Dman who at some point later in the game can lay a hard, legal hit on one of the Leafs young stars, and, if another Leaf wants to come at him for it, our guy can beat the crap out of him.
Morin, besides the physical element, is also a pretty good player and there is no reason, especially if Ghost is injured, not to bring him up and get him into the lineup. Even if Ghost is ok for the next game, I'd still bring up Morin and get him in. Before last night's game, I would have wanted them to sit Manning. However, the goal aside, I actually thought Manning had a pretty solid game. The guy I would sit for a game if Ghost is good to go is Hagg. He's played ok of late, but not as well as he was at the start of the season. Spending a game or 2 in the Cote suite won't do him any harm.
So depending on the availability of Ghost, my pairings for the next game would be:
I missed the hit during the game. All I can say is holy crap.
The league is a joke if there isn't a suspension.

I think he will get a suspension, but probably no more than 2 games. The league however, is still a joke. There are 4 officials on the ice. Now I understand linesman can't call penalties, but they can certainly say to the refs, "hey that guy just got blatantly boarded from behind by Komorov, he needs to get 5 and a game". Christ, even the inept NFL officials confer all the time about calls. For all of the on ice officials to have missed that call is just outrageous.
Literally, the league should use this hit in videos giving examples of what is an illegal hit.. - opeth_pa
It's just unconscionable that every on ice official blew that call. I can hear Ed Snider now, "typical (frank)ing Toronto refs!!"

"Typical Toronto Refs".... I believe that they do indeed exist. Watched game with Leaf fans last night. Bet both of them before game started Leafs would have more PP and sure enough it was an easy 40bucks.
