Lindbolm continues to impress, give him till the trade deadline or injury, if he keeps the pace in LHV it should give him the confidence to do well when called up. We all complain about playing the young players, me included, this is a good example of how Hextall is doing it the right way. Lindbolm didnt have a bad camp but he would have looked more like Patrick in the NHL, not a true top 6 forward.
that said, why they hell sit Sanheim??? Manning horibble last 2 games, AMAC is back to his olay blue line play and Hagg could just use a break. I know maybe tomorrow he gets in....
another note, this is really the only good site to discuss the flyers... |

I was at wjc game last night. Hart looked very impressive. Only goal he gave up was just flat out a great shot that no one was stopping. Future looks bright for him. Also saw Sushko the other day. He was all over the ice. Definitely a puck hound. Looked like Gagne out there. |

In a way I almost have sympathy for Hak. He has Schenn taken away from him and is given Lehtera and a rookie about to have corrective abdominal surgery.
I say almost because I see Sanhiem benched again over Manning and just figure that Hak would've found a way to squander Schenn anyway.
All I know is they'd better start stringing together some wins again. This team has me jaded to the point where I can't even enjoy a win because I know that they're just going to come out and lay an egg the next game. |

If Hak plans on sitting Sanheim beyond today, then Hextall needs to send him down. The kid needs to play. |

Absolutely. If they continue to keep him off the ice(be it NHL or AHL) it'll just be yet another knock on this management/coaching staff. Maybe the biggest one this season honestly. |

I agree with everyone re: Sanheim. If he isn't going to play, he's better off taking one step backwards (i.e., getting sent to the Phantoms) to hopefully take two forward by the end of the season and into preparing for next year.
Added the Phantoms section to today's blog. Lengthy portion of it discusses Lindblom.
Still have a Frost and collegiate prospect update to add in at the end. |

Would love to see something like this soon:
Giroux-Couturier-Konecny
Lindblom-Filppula-Voracek
Weal-Patrick-Simmonds
Raffl-Laughton-Goulbourne
I've had my fill of Leier, Lehtera, Weise. Waive one, and the other 2 can munch popcorn together.

Will never happen. Hextall went out of his way to bring Weise and Lehtera here. That much money in the owners suite makes Hextall look like Homer. And he and Hak too buddy buddy to let either one look bad. |

I have no idea where this narrative comes from. Hextall in the past has sent MacDonald to the AHL and currently has Read sent down. What makes anyone think that any perceived optics would factor into Hextall's decision making? It's really absurd. |

I'm not buying that, he had no problem sending AMac and his 5 million down to LHV at one point, nor did he have any concerns about paying Read 3.6 to play in the minors.
Hextall certainly didn't go "out of his way" to bring Lehtera here, he was a necessary throw in to land 2 first round picks for Schenn. Yeah, he signed Weise. Last time I checked Weise is being scratched today and has been scratched quite a few times in the past. I think he would certainly try to trade Weise or Lehtera first if a deal can somehow be made, but if not, I don't think he'd have any problem demoting one of them or scratching both if Leier is moved.

Nice to see Lindblom doing what’s been asked of him. I still disagree with the way Sanheim is being dealt with. He’s an offensive d man, yet they refuse to get him on that second pp....until the goal the other night it felt like it’s been 2 months since that unit scored or looked any good. Put the kid in positions were he can succeed. That’s the # 1 job of a coach.

Wonder why Nuvierth isn't starting today? Had a shutout against them earlier, and with it being a back to back, give Elliot this day off, play him against an easier Buffalo, then he can further rest heading into the bye week.
Hope the flyers put forth a good showing today. We don't quite seem to string together aggressive efforts sans the 6 game winning streak.

Leier could be sent back....I see that happening before Hextall could find a partner for either Lehtera or Weise. It’s Haks decisions on the lineup and for the most part he chooses a vet over a young guy if both are struggling, which is normal....I just don’t like seeing kids sit for mediocre team or for mediocre vets.

Hextall didn't sign either of those guys. What he has done is taken cap dumps and explicitly told the fanbase that that he acquired useful NHL players. |

What he has done is taken in cap dumps in addition to taking in future assets such as #1 picks or better positioned the team cap wise such as with the Hartnell deal. Did he worry about the optics of buying out Umberger, who he traded for? Lehtera is a useful NHL player as a depth 13th forward. It doesn't matter whether he signed them or not. The evidence shows that your perception is ill perceived. |

I’m sure he hoped Lehtera would actually look like that....the only time Lehtera has been successful in this league he played with Taresenko....when they separated the two Lehtera went for a dump. I don’t remember Lehtera getting those type of high end talents to play with here for any extended time. He’s like a fish out water. He’s not good enough for a top 6 role here, and he sucks at a bottom 6 role.
