Team is just baffling.
When they are on their game, they're a pretty tough team to beat. But oh boy.... |

until players like Lehtera, Manning and Filppula are replaced and guys like Simmonds start getting it together, our fourth and third lines are going to continue to be a huge liability. Giroux and the kids are great but they can't do it by themselves every night.
Takes a full team of NHL caliber players and we just don't have it right now |

Giroux has 97 points. What a waste of an amazing season this would be if they don't make the playoffs. |

How many times has this team played down to an inferior opponent this season? Ups and downs of a regular season are expected but it's crunch time. The overall effort especially in the 2nd period was nauseating. Nobody stepped up in that period to turn the tide. |

They get no lift from their PK, even when they kill it off there is a lot of zone time because of easy entries and a passive box. |

Too many times.
I hope this game doesn't end up biting them in the rump. How they could come up so small in such a huge game is mind boggling. And after they came all the way back only to let up immediately thereafter.
Pitiful. Just Pitiful. |

If they come out flat on Thursday and/or Saturday and don’t find a way into the playoffs, thus causing an epic collapse, does the coach get the boot?
I already think Lappy is gone in the offseason. |

Ya points in seven straight games before this one, they are terrible, get a grip. It was a bad game relax everyone they have 2 games left and if they win out they are in. I am sure they will be pumped to play against Carolina on Thursday and will win. Florida still has to win out as well. |

I don't think so, but it won't be sure bet he doesn't as it was not that long ago. |

They got rid of Joe Mullen because the PP was supposedly stale, what does that say for the guy over seeing the PK? |

I would have dumped Lappy last year. Love the guy for his playing days but the PK has been bad for a while. Players need blame but so does the coach. |

I agree.
When did it become so “in” with NHL coaches to come with their 4th line after a team scores a goal?
And it’s not so much that they gave up the goal. Like MJL said, the pinch was the dagger. Not many people are skating with Barzal. But when you’ve got the Isles on their heels, how do you not come back with a line that could strike again? Why come back with your worst line? |

It s just a weird standard by the coaching staff. Young guy makes a mistake rides pine. Ok, vet gets chance to play his way out and eventually rides some pine during a game. Could the PK have gotten any worse with some other dman to start with Provy then Gudas or breaking up the duo of Flip and Lehtera?

John Carlson is a free agent after the year. Going to cost booku bucks. BUT, with all the youth on this team, would he be someone this team should look into? Could definitely solidify the backend and maybe play with one of the kids coming up next year like Morin. Keeping Mac and Sanheim together as well as Provy and Ghost. |

Did not watch the game, but saw the goals. Looks like terrible goaltending by Mrazek. First goal by Tavares is from the slot, unscreened five hole. Second goal by Tavares he cannot cover the puck. Another goal he goes down too quickly. Last goal Barzal makes him look silly. |
