I stand corrected, wow. Thought he played poorly vs Nashville. Ok then... |

Hes a good depth dman, fancy stat wise and eye test boxscore wise
He missed something like 38 games, played the final regular season game and then rolled right into a pretty intense first series against the Preds. He struggled but in the context of him coming back (and perhaps even too soon from his injury that we still dont know what it was)...
Im glad hes back |

Now let's go after DeHaan or better Yet Carlson if the Caps don't fit him in next year. Just depends on what they decide with Barrie. Seems Girard will replace him hard to have 2 D man that small for the playoffs anyhow. |

Zads EJ
De Haan Barrie
Girard Nemeth
Barberio Alt
I would be very ok with that depth, even if Alt is waived as his contract is a 2 way if a kid makes the jump up into the opening day roster.
I like this depth |

Girard was a sweet pickup for you guys. Avs are really starting to come together.
For a while there it looked like Sakic was really poopting the bed |

A lot of that had to do with Roy, there was a serious power struggle bw the 2 and both had authority to make moves.
Avs fans have been standing by Joe this whole time, most of us understood what the issues were behind the scene so when the team and Joe were everyones punch line in jokes, we were confident it would turn around |

the more I think about it, the more I like it. Avs can still try to land either Carlson or De Haan if they get to market, but they have taken care of their own as they needed to keep a Dman or 2 just to ensur ethey have solid NHL depth.
Resign Barbs, keep Alt on a 2 way deal are safe bets as you already know and like what you have instead of trying to sign "depth guys"
Schenn, Oduya, Hamhuis, Emelin, etc are the level of depth dman on the market. I would rather hold onto barbs instead of being forced to sign one of those guys to an expensive deal just to hope they can be a solid 3rd pairing guy.
Im not in love with the Alt resigning, but it doesnt make our break you, as either hes just press box or another AHL dman...but maybe the message is that guys like TImmins, Meloche, Geertsen, Anderson...if you want big minutes you are going to have to earn them, no free passes |
