Just trade Phaneuf again. |

LA isn't necessarily out of contention because they wouldn't do it unless Panarin agreed to an extension as part of the deal and that would be worth Toffoli plus. Toffoli's $4.6M, alone, would mostly pay for Panarin's $6M cap hit. I would imagine that Columbus would be happy to get Toffoli plus for Panarin, considering that they're losing leverage. The hitch might be the fact that Toffoli is a UFA in 2 years, much like Panarin was when they got him. They may not want to take that kind of gamble again. |

Muzzin,Pearson, pick (2nd or 3rd) OR Brodzinski? Sign a cheap D to replace Muzzin. Buy out phanuf in 19/20. Sign Panarin to 8/8. Possibly make a minor trade if needed... it’s not impossible |

Give the man his due CBJ. The guys an elite talent and should be the cornerstone of your franchise.
Trading him would be the equivalent on the Stupid Index to the Flyers letting Bobrovsky walk. Pay him or you will regret it! |

I still hope that JK extends Panarin before the season starts - probably at $9.5/yr (maybe $10MM) per yr for 8 yrs. Agreed that CBJ should build around the Bread Man. Panarin is waiting for the Tavaras dust to settle before he throws out salary numbers.
If the CBJ offer $10MM @ 8 yrs, the competitors would have to offer $11.5 for 7 yrs to equal; and I'm not convinced a team will want to do that, even with the cap going up.
If Panarin really doesn't want to sign with the CBJ then look to trade. And if a trade with the Panthers is possible, the talks would begin with Barkov and a prospect.

Not really sure why he would go to the Rangers they are beginning a rebuild and wont be a cup contender again for at least 3-4 years and the Islanders need to fix their defense and get a starting goalie or they will continue to bleed goals... another option in the NY area is the Devils just an up and coming young team with a bright future. |

No, no, a hundred times no. The best thing to do is not make the trade. Columbus is not Ottawa/dumpster fire or Edmonton/forest fire. Until Breadman comes out and says he wants to leave, CBJ management has enough time to find a number both sides can live with.
Please note, I understand that Paul doesn't want to trade him either, but even discussing this is crazy at the moment. |

Panthers won't even move Trocheck, let alone Barkov. I don't know if they'd even be willing to pay the salary Panarin will command. Bjugstad (salary would have to go) (flip Hoffman? lol) and a couple of their promising prospects and/or draft picks combination probably wouldn't get it done, idk, but I don't see FL moving any of their core players who are on bargain contracts. |

Panarin went to the Hawks (or chose them), to try & win Stanley. Then signed a cheaper than normal contract to stay with the Hawks, to try & win I imagine. Then Stan screwed him by trading him to a team that is good (better than the Hawks), but not a contender.
So has that changed his views about North American hockey? Is it still about winning Stanley? Or is it's now about chasing $ in the hope his talent is enough for a contender to take the risk with a yuuge cap hit?
Or, he's had enough of Torts & hes waiting for management to show Torts the door? |

The thing is, technically TSN is reporting that Panarin's agent is saying 'there is no such list'.
In truth it sounded a little iffy anyway in the sense that ok .. yes ... New York, big city (which is tied to other reporting ...) and then LA and Florida based upon two teams with (in LA's case -soon to be) ex-team makes from SKA St Petersburg.
Good thing Vegas let Ship go back to Russia, otherwise someone would have stuck that in there too based upon the same connection.
Now, here is the thing, and that is this past season proved what I was pretty certain of before (in the interest of full disclosure - I am a Hawk fan, and probably one of the few that had a pretty good idea what Chicago was getting with Panarin -got a date stamp somewhere on a post ... but who cares ...) - point being, Panarin proved that he was his own player; too much of this 'playing in Kane's shadow' or needing Kane stuff - which was bonkers ... technically Panarin proved it the season prior to coming to the Jackets when Panarin and Anisimov were on a line with Marian Hossa for a stretch (Kane was with Toews) -and Panarin was leading Chicago in scoring during that stretch... I guess that sort of thing did not fit with someone's 'narrative' there.
It was pretty clear to me, as to how the Jackets felt about him, when they put an A on him for awhile. He is a guy that you build a team around.
I read some of the comments, and truth be known, prior to this season Washington never won anything; I even think they hold the record for the worst single season record in NHL history (granted from their expansion team days)... the Jackets played Washington pretty closely; they relied a little too much on Panarin - but that is a depth issue; when I think he got injured, or rather, was battling one, then that was that.
I think that the Jackets' playoffs this season put paid to the silly narrative spun around Chicago circles about Panarin and the playoffs last season - I mean seriously some people there seemed to have expected Panarin to carry the Hawks - 2016-17 ... well, from a Chicago standpoint, the playoffs were a mess.
My point being, Panarin could do much worse than working something out with Columbus. |

I heard the Habs were on his list too, but then he heard that Bergevin would move him to center and he then removed the Habs from his list.
