Benning pretty much said this wont happen. So maybe listen to the horse's mouth.
If he ends up in Vancouver...I'll apologize. |

I think that Karlsson in fact is refusing to sign an extension with any Canadian team; this denial smells like his trying to avoid being booed by fans in Ottawa should he have to play part of this season there. |

Shero the crafty (frank)er........not really his style to have it out there he's onto something. So maybe or maybe not. I definately wouldn't put it past him though, has all the ingredients for a Shero trade. |

Yes especially if Hoffmans mrs pushes to get all those details public about the harassment etc. Imagine if they come out & find Hoffmans mrs had nothing to do with it & Karlsson basically saying he doesn't want to play in Canada while actually living & playing in Canada!
Now THAT would be exciting. |

Is Benning the GM of an NHL team. They almost never tell the full truth to the media. Do you really expect him to come out and say, "Yeah, we're trying to trade for Karlsson, but don't get mad at me if it doesn't work out?"
Remember when Treliving came out and said they weren't shopping Hamilton days before they traded him? |

Hall wouldn't get it done. His value has already been set at a Larsson, and a Karlsson is worth way more.

Maybe before he WON THE (frank)ING HART!
Poor Constanza, he just keeps being given the opportunity to (frank) up, & he does! |

Excellent point. And clever.
But still I don’t think Shero would do it. |

Admittedly I would love to watch EK65 play in Vancouver every night, he is easily one of the 5 best dmen in the game today. Fans in this market are emotionally attached to prospects because apparently speculation, hype and hope is more attractive than elite all-star talent.
Vancouver could get a deal one without having to give up a draft pick, and even take on Bobby Ryan in the process. Jim Benning has been spending his offseason hyping Olli Juolevi in every interview he's done... "He's part of the core, the Boesers, the Demkos, the Peterssons etcc."
Vancouver has NHL ready talent in Virtanen, Goldobin and Stetcher. Pick 2.
They also have a ton of prospects who have yet to see the NHL but are likely to be impact players at some point: Hughes, Juolevi, Kole Lind, Jon Dahlen, Jett Woo, Adam Gaudette - so they wouldn't necessarily have to give up a pick in 2019 to strike a deal. Plus they can add a 2020 1st without Benning breaking his word.
I don't think it happens, but I'm going to many more games this year if it does.
Edit, yes I know Gaudette played last year. I throw him in that tier of player because I dont actually think he's ready yet. |

Vancouver has a bunch of decent prospects, but I'm not so sure I'd highlight Virtanen. He's very similar to fellow 2014 top 10 pick Bennett. Decent NHLer, but nowhere near where either team expected them to be by this point. |

Vancouver should stay the course. Even with Karlson they aren’t making the playoffs for at least 3 years. In 3 years Juolevi, Hughes, Hutton, Stetcher, Pouliot, Horvat, Boeser, Dahlen, Petterson, Woo, Virtanen, And Gaudette will be more valuable that a 30 something Karlsson. That’s going to be a really good team and I say that being a life long anti fan of the Cafuchs. |
