When the Ottawa Senators are relocated, will the new city keep the red, black, gold and white colour scheme? |

Do you think they need a rebuild because of the subtraction of Brassard and Hoffman? I still think they currently have the pieces to regroup by 19/20.
It will be very puzzling and a immediate need for a gm change. If they rushed hoffman out the door with very little return. Then proceed to ship out Karlsson. Makes zero sense. |

There's too many holes on this team for them to regroup by 19/20. Anderson isn't getting any younger, if he does stay on form for the next little while, he'll be due for one of his cyclical down years in 19/20.
The defense will be very bad too. |

It would be a sad day if Ottawa got relocated; it's never a funny thing. People lose their jobs and the city and fans pay for it. |

Bettman seems rather adamant that he doesn't want that to happen. He's fought pretty hard for less than ideal hockey markets.
I'd imagine the league wouldn't want the team the nation's capital to move. But, that's mostly speculation on my part |

I agree many areas need to be fixed. Unless they keep the core of Karlsson
Stone. Duchene intact. Its very fixable. If that core gets dismantled this could get ugly for a very long time. Then the possibilty of current young guns jumping ship at first chance exists.
Overall prognosis is we need better gm . He needs more help. Need more scouts, trainers, staff.Thats where ownership is truly failing.
I currently like they have stopped talking about every move they make. Thats refreshing even though under current circumstances it fuels rampant speculation. |

I doubt if they go anywhere else. Many teams have faced great adversity over the years. This will get fixed. |

The teams he's fought the hardest for are probably Arizona and the Florida teams. Those aren't exactly important hockey markets, but they're really important media markets. The issue with Ottawa is that it's very much just a local market. And that's not the fault of the fans at all, it's just the reality of being stuck between two of the biggest markets in hockey. My concern would be that, without a legit local owner stepping up, the Senators might get the Atlanta treatment. When that owner wanted out they didn't even bother looking for someone else local, they just went to the next guy with money.
For the record, I think it would be a mistake to move the Senators out of Ottawa. |

people who suggest that the Sens are moving are:
1. Trolls - don't feed the trolls man.
2. completely oblivious to the economic and business realities of the situation. the issues in Ottawa are 100% the fault of the owner, when he leaves the fans come back, plain and simple. if you move the team, you still have the same poopty owner so the problem isn't solved, if anything it's compounded because he wasted more money that he didn't have moving the team. also, if the league expands, the owners split the ridiculously outrageous expansion fees between them, so why would they ever vote to relocate (an option that earns them 0$) when they could vote to expand (an option that earns them millions upon millions of dollars). relocation means you have the same poopty owner, and the same sinking franchise, in a different city with the same problems. a sale of the team plus expansion means you have 2 stable franchises and the owners have a poop ton on money in their pockets.............HHMMMMMM, I wonder which option they'd choose. |

They have the pieces for sure. Douchene, Karlsson, Stone are all stars. Unfortunately its a tire fire and everyone is running from this team. The hoffman deal was horrible, and depending on what Karlsson's trade return is, the others may not want to sign longterm contracts. Throw in that they are likely a lottery team without a 1st round pick and you have a horrible situation. Hopefully they can stop the bleeding, but I have serious doubts. |

There are two confirmed groups willing to purchase.
He can't "move" the team if there are parties interested in purchasing and keeping the team in it's current location the league constitution prevents it. And one of those parties has already applied to - and been given approval for ownership. A quiet but necessary step Jim Balsile never bothered with.
He has no complaints about attendance. He can't hide the fact they averaged
15,000 people with 1500 seats covered last season.
just stop with the relocation poop.....the only place they're relocating to might be Lebreton Flats....which is a horrible idea...but (shrug) |
