if he's in the 60+-point range, yes...his present 50-point range, not so much

they can get on the same page next summer if skunk has a good year IMO

I actually like the deal. We might have three first round picks next year. If they look promising, we can move Sam at the deadline next season and make room for them. If Sam was locked up for 7 years and started poopting the bed we would be stuck with him. This provides much needed flexibility. The only thing that scares me these days with contracts is term.

No?? My summer essentially ends this weekend. Which means I'm back in the saddle come October. I'm gonna have to try me one of these burgers

I actually like the deal. We might have three first round picks next year. If they look promising, we can move Sam at the deadline next season and make room for them. If Sam was locked up for 7 years and started poopting the bed we would be stuck with him. This provides much needed flexibility. The only thing that scares me these days with contracts is term.

Perfect deal by JB in my book. A long term deal on Sam is a big risk. He needed to keep some flexibility 2+ years out. I love what JB did this off season, checks all the boxes for me. It was more than I thought he could realistically pull off.

Maybe, but he'll be an RFA with arb rights and a 3.75m QO. If he plays well, it's good for everyone involved.
