Of course a new blog is published right after the rare occasion I decide to post, so here's a bump.
I hate knee-jerk reactions, but it seems as though McBeane have no plan whatsoever. Draft the most RAW QB prospect in years, only to throw him into starting action with a Division II roster. I get that there's no better way to learn by playing, but Allen can't seriously be expected to compete with a roster utterly devoid of talent.
It seems like a complete lack of foresight on their part. The team doesn't seem to have any direction other than Josh Allen, all whilst half-assingly placing all their cards in his basket. Sure, let's celebrate McBeane trading away all the guys that "Don't fit the process", only to realize years later that all those trades amounted to no help and only set the Bills back yet again. It all means nothing when Beane appears to have made every single one of these moves without a viable backup plan. I've been waiting my ENTIRE life to see the Bills show some semblance of a respectable NFL franchise, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a believer of the process at first. Now it appears as though the process is a euphemism for 17 more years of misguided management and no playoffs.
Get a clue and don't lead the fans on your experimental circus ride. I'm sick of such an abhorrent lack of proper planning. Time and time again, the Pegulas have proven they are incapable of picking the right guys (sans Botterill). I beg to be wrong, but I don't see a defensive minded HC and a GM obsessed with accumulating as many former Panthers as possible to be the saviors the Bills need. Hopefully, the Sabres can give us some hope as I realistically can't see the Bills instilling any hope this season unless they show that there is a real direction other than this imaginary "dead cap" that will magically solve all the Bills problems next season. /endrant
Also, for good measure

do you think these injuries guarantee nylander a spot opening night? he was the most noticable player in preseason, imo |

I think he played his way on to the opening night roster to begin with, moreso than Thompson, imo |

The question on my mind is: are Risto, Bogo, Larsson, Scandella day-to-day? Or are they Housley's version of day-to-day which can mean basically anything other than "in a coma" |

I would think Gagner would be a better option than Larsson at this point.

Hate to say it but i am glad that the injury bug hitting the Sabres relates to our fringe players. No losses with any of them.
I don't think having Nylander sit in the pressbox is the way to go. Move him down to Rochester and have one of Bailey or Baptiste sit in the box to start. When Larsson comes back, waive him to Rochester. |

Fwiw I don't see them keeping Nylander only to have him ride the pine. No factual backing there, just my hunch that he will be in the lineup if he makes the team. Furthermore, I'd wager it's a top9 role, not 4th line. |

It was surprising to see him alternating at 2RW with Thompson last practice. Was left feeling one would be sent down. Wilson's injury changes things a bit. I still struggle with the idea of playing Thompson or Nylander on a line that's going to see heavy defensive minutes. Curious to see their new practice lines.

No surprises from the Amerks, who have sent 10 players to Cincinnati of ECHL:
Forwards (4): Pascal Aquin, Vasily Glotov, Judd Peterson, Alex Wideman
Defensemen (4): Tobie Bisson, Anthony Florentino, Eric Knodel, Devante Stephens
Goaltenders (2): Jonas Johansson, Michael Houser |

Curious as to weather or not anyone knows the answer to this vs. me trying to find it on the interwebs.
If Bailey or Baptiste get called up, don't they have to clear waivers every time we try to send them back down?
And how long is a guy like Tennyson allowed to stay with the NHL team after he has cleared waivers?
....And beer me. |

Totally forgot about Sobotka, I'd probably put him in for zemgus in that lineup but that's just me... and yeah, not sure what to do with Bogosian and Nelson since both are RHD. Guess injuries will shake it up. |

He's not and really doesn't have to be, since they hold his rights for a few more years. |

no they don't need to clear waivers every time...however, I believe the limit on a call up is 10 games or 30 days...
if there's anyone out there who can wade through all the lawyer-speak contained in the cba and verify this, it would be greatly appreciated |
