Saw some good things. Vesey played very good. Buch got on the board. Great pass by Chytil. Pionk was good. Hank was good. Fast...love his game. Team overall played a solid game. I’ll take this result all season.
Staal is absolutely terrible.

I will never understand how he can be completely invisible for a game. His size and speed, even if he is having a bad game, he should still be noticeable.

Just initial impressions. I think the Rangers will be very competitive in most games. Don't know how many wins that translates into, because not sure there is enough offensive punch there right now. But, I don't think they will be a total train wreck this year. We will get competitive efforts.

On a couple of players, I watched Howden a lot last night. Thought his first half of the game was just blah, but I actually though he played well during the second half of the game. I definitely see something with him.

Also, thought Vesey played very well, which kind of surprised me because just reading the comments on here during the pre-season, seemed like he was a mess.

yeah Vesey looked real good

I still feel like I'd like Andersson to be in that spot instead of him on that line though

I think Andersson needs to be on this team sooner rather than later, and I am not saying that Howden should even be the one that comes out. I think in a year that the Rangers don't have high expectations, they need to get Andersson pro experience.

I think it will happen soon, or at least I hope it will.

And Zucc needs to shoot the F U C K I N G puck. Unbelievable. Perfect pass on the tape 3 feet inside the hash marks and he still tries to pass.

Probably one of the best players on the ice last night. Was everywhere.

Was funny Hayes and Vesey were invisible in camp, but played good and Zib and Kreider looked good in camp but played like ass.

McKenzie on TSN690 says it’s not a good sign for Jake Allen that he got booed in the first game of the season, fans have already predisposed to not liking him due to past events. Allen has had some highs, but really low lows too. McKenzie worries about his future with #STLBlues

that team needs a solid veteran goalie

It's going to happen more often I think.

I love Kreider and Zib but now they are the de facto number one line, playing against other teams top players. They are good but aren't elite. They may struggle on more nights to produce.

Hopefully Vesey and Hayes can keep taking advantage of who they match up against.

Good blurb on Vesey from Carp, the first part of which I don't think any of us knew:
"Vesey, who it turns out had been dealing with a minor groin issue in the early part of the preseason, was the player the Rangers hoped he’d be, at least for one game. Entering this third and last season of his entry-level contract, he switched trainers this summer and lost 10 pounds, playing under 200 for the first time since his freshman year at Harvard"
