Justin Lowe: Hawks Know Who They Are and Who They Aren't
The Hawks aren't the best team in the league: Fact.
The Hawks have 3 x 30+ goal scorers and have no problem putting the puck in the net: Fact.
If the Hawks miss the playoffs for the 2nd straight year or if by miracle, they win every game down the stretch and get in, this team is starting to know what they are.

TC, I am with you on Delia, I think he needs another year in the Rock. That being said, I guess they have written off Forsberg already. He is having a solid season down there but it seems like they have no intention of bringing him up and see if he is better mentally than last year. He is definitely better technically than Delia at this point IMO. |

When he was going well - his first five (+/-) games this season - he was very economical in his moves - up and down quickly and in position, fast and strong pushing off to go side-to-side - following the puck and in position to stop it. Controlling the puck was a bit of a problem, and he seemed to stick too deep in his net (but that made his positional quickness that much better)....
I haven’t seen all of that in his games recently - too much wasted motion, too much athletic saves instead of positional saves, leaving him not well placed for the next shot.
I don’t know is it’s shell-shock or loss of confidence or what - but he could be very good if the long term prognosis is the Delia we saw in his first few games here. |

So much praise for "Stan the man". The man who created this whole mess. The man who fired Q to cover up for his bad moves. Fire "The Man".

Dale would never have allowed the team to become lavender sniffers.
Gotta love Mohel for that phrase. I think they should rename the team "The Lavenderhawks" and change the team's jersey colour to reflect it. |

While everyone knows upgrading the D is the number one need, the goalie situation might end up being the biggest challenge. |

He never would have drafted that overhyped pipsqueak DeBrincat. Give me a team full of Kyle Beach’s all day long. |

If you're talking UFA I hope the Hawks steer clear of the big names and go after a solid mid range defenseman. |

Trading for top 4 D bothers me because everyone is looking for D. Consequently teams tend to overpay as the Oilers did when they gave up Taylor Hall. You get your top 4 D but create other holes in your lineup.
What the Hawks have been doing in recent drafts is probably the smart way to go along with beating the bushes for hidden undrafted gems. |

Yeh, I do not understand this infatuation with Tallon. Tell what he has done in Florida to bring the Panthers to the promised land. |

Funny you mention that, because the Hall for Larsson trade crossed my mind too. Totally agree about stocking the prospect pond and law of averages and good scouting would likely have some of them pan out.
If they could get a guy on a decent deal I wouldn’t mind a legit stopgap that can give the draft picks time to grow, or a player they trade for that fits in to how they are viewing the long game. |

Nice trade for Sharp. Drafted Johnny and Kaner. He had hits and misses, but overall his record is what it is..... mediocre at best. |
