JB and the Seahawks from office are polar opposites. I've read a lot now articles/interviews on how the Hawks run things, they do a lot of homework to try to exploit market inefficiencies in trades and the draft. The Pats do the same as well.
I can't imagine JB doing the same, judging from his interviews and the moves he's made. |

Friedman again on his podcast:
So at bare minimum it was 5th overall + another asset like Tanev, MTL wanted Horvat too but I doubt Benning was going to include him, probably a different asset instead. - Nucker101
Realistically, I could see the Habs pushing for Horvat and getting turned down.
Friedman is decent on rumours but he speculates a lot and calls it speculation so he doesn't get himself in trouble but instantly people leave out the part when he says "...and I'm only speculating here, I havent heard anything". I know you said the other day he was willing to trade all those assets...and Horvats name was in there. There's a line in the story. It separates the part where Benning confirmed he was looking to acquire Subban and then part that's speculation which is the assets Friedman mentions. |

Fair enough, the "+" part of the package does seem speculative on Friedman's part.
But he sounds pretty certain that 5th overall/Dubois was the centerpiece. |

Would you trade for Subban now if he was available? |

Yup, he's a master at trading down and getting more picks. He's only got 5 picks as of now, he'll pick up at least 2 more before he's done. That's not in JB's makeup he's too passive-aggressive. |

expediting the rebuild, and filling holes by creating others is always more fun |

That would have been terrible. That's what re-signing the Sedins brings... not only does the owner keep pushing for the over the top player to add to them... but then re-signing them again because those over the top players were brought in.
This really does sound like a Linden/Owner thing to me.

He turns 30 in a couple of weeks so there's your answer. I know the "playoffs asap" crowd doesn't like that answer, but Benning should be focused on acquiring players that will peak with EP/Hughes/Boeser |

NFL draft picks are gold, I thought the Chiefs overpaid, they want to win while their young core is still intact and affordable. - Nucker101
Well their defense was atrocious last year and they want to win while Mahomes is still on his rookie contract. I'm not against them giving up what they did, just hope it works for them. |

lol i was joking
Trading for Subban is literally no different than the idiots in here who wanted to trade Boeser for a top 4 D. |

Especially since Dubois just scored 27 goals and 61 points as a 20 year old this season. That's a trade that would get brought up repeatedly, especially once Subban begins to decline in a year or 2 while Dubois enters his prime.
Not sure we an absolve Benning of his role in this, he's the one who went on record stating that he had interest in the player. |
