Interesting that Nylander clearly still had pretty good value. The writing was definitely on the wall for him to go, and they got out while the gettin' was good

Well done, JB - jcragcrumple
Seems to me Sabres win since Hawks fans are more upset by this than anything... At this point anyways... If Nylander develops into a top line winger and joker doesn't crack the top 4, then it'll be a different story. But if joker is a top 4 d man them Nylander has to at least be a marginal top line winger...
I wonder if they still plan on keeping Risto???
Jokiharju can still be sent down
Then they could easily go with Risto, Miller & Montour as their 3 RH defensemen
Bogo is hurt for the 1st month, and they can address the situation when he comes back
Nelson can be the 7 or 8

Both are young still, Nylander has talent, just lacks drive. That can be fixed. Time will tell, but I'm optimistic given the reactions of smarter people than I.

"Henri is a young, mobile defenseman who has shown he can compete at the NHL level. His international success last season only furthered his development and we are excited to add him to our current group of defensemen"

dude has tremendous skill, (seemingly) little motivation...if they can get him going, there will be a much different take on this trade

Well there is that. Doesn't hurt to have Chuck Fletcher in the big chair. We have plenty of vets to sell him. And apparently they're shopping for vets to keep their window open as long as possible. Giroux will be 32 midseason. Once Voracek and Giroux start showing their age, that forward group is going to be a rough bunch.

Consistency and work ethic is hard to teach. So is getting away from being a perimeter player.

I think he's here to play - jcragcrumple
Is there a Botterill interview out there about acquiring him
