Tyler Cameron: Stan, Catch Your Breath, Man!
Summer is finally in full effect here in Ontario and boy, it's been a hockey whirlwind to get here in the last month in a half.
For the Blackhawks, Stan Bowman has been very busy.
Let's take a look at what we've all just experienced so far this 2019 offseason. |

First?
Yeah, not sure the Stan napping at the desk or unable to pick up the phone with greasy potato chip fingers has applied to this offseason.
On paper the team looks better after the current offseason moves and with more actual prospects set to play in RFD that should make for an interesting year there too. |

For the "You can't get any dumber" column, Tyler can you give Tanner a few lessons on how to think of a creative idea, put that idea into a comprehensive blog and make it so he generates interest and blog hits due to the blog's interesting and stimulating content? |

Should be one interesting season as the division is the best in NHL.
I see this being another tough season where it will come down to the final week to see if we get a wildcard spot.
Dallas, St. Louis, and Colorado look to be near the top.
Chicago, Nashville and Winnipeg one notch below those 3 fighting it out for wildcard.
Minnesota still trying to figure things out and waiting for Arizona to join division so they have someone to share their misery with.

I am excited for Rockford this year as well. I was playing around with their team the other day and, while they will be young, they should be exciting to watch.

Excited to dig into the central in a series of blogs this summer once rosters look fairly set.
Jets still have some work to do and yes, they have fallen. |

Glad we stayed away from that.
Great blog btw, TC. It hasn't been a boring summer that I'm used to, but I always appreciate what you do & keeping us fans entertained, discussing, and keeping the riff raff down. One critique, I find your lack of trading Kane to Arizona disturbing. |

Tyler,
You also may want to include a comment or two on the Pacific teams also, since how they perform may have a bearing on the Hawks reaching the playoffs. CGY and VGN are probably locks for the post season. VAN and ARI were in contention for a playoff spot last year until the final week of the season and I think they have improved. SJS without Pavelski and possibly Thornton may take a step back.
The Central is loaded with STL, COL, DAL, NSH along with what I think is a much improved CHI team. WPG may regress.
There is no guarantee that both wild cards will come out of the Central. |

From the last blog: D, I'm not too sure that Taylor & Tanner are different. Could be the same person? Spelling isn't that much different. (Wink) |

This is an example of Bowman getting smarter. He avoided jumping on Dzingel as a UFA and overpaying with term because he has an NHL resume. He may turn out to be a very good signing for Carolina, but have to wonder why teams like Columbus, Buffalo, Detroit, Minny and a few others who need forwards didnt bite.
I prefer what Stan has done - bring back Shaw and create a very competitive environment with many young guys looking for an NHL job.

Isn't there another thing potentially on Stan's to do list? Aren't the Cat and Strome eligible for extensions as of July 1?
The fact that's not done yet is a clear sign they're outta here after next season, eh? |

I'll add that next time.
... and thank you, I have been thoroughly enjoying writing and, as you stated... hasn't been a boring summer at all. This has made my job much easier. |

For sure. I'll have a blog on the Pacific teams and then individual blogs for each Central team so we can all get a nice recap of what happened in the West. |

Don't even start that narrative.
Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked if DeBrincat and Strome wait until next year to sign their deals.
DeBrincat can bet on himself again to score 30+ goals. He scores that many goals in 3 years... that's a big deal.
Strome on the other hand, I think the Hawks will want to be sure he can replicate what he did in his time in Chicago before they toss him a bunch of money.
The thing is... Strome and the Cat are loving being together... the Hawks love that they love being together and at the end of the day... it will all get sorted out.
