I agree. I like Point, but Mitts could be just as good and his next contract will be way more team friendly (it should since his points / production is way less). - Lilroot9
I still think Mitts can be a very good 2C
Could still even be 1C quality eventually
So yeah,
It’s risky trading him now
But Point is a Top10 Center in the league imo
And i just can’t project that level of development for Mitts
The difference in salaries could be huge though
Especially if we extend Mitts to a long term deal after this season & he does develop to a top25 caliber center
But that kind of potential is what it would take to get a guy like Point
I can see both sides of the debate here
Just happen to really like Point myself |

Yuri Khmylev!
Interesting that because Veasy couldn't get 26, he halved it to 13.
Hockey players are weird. |

My proposal for Point was
Mitts + Risto + we take a Cap dump from them
They were in tough shape with the Cap moving forward, and that was before giving Vasilevsky a 9.5mil per extension |

Now official and signed to a 2 year $9m contract. Will see if it pays off for NJ. |

Take out Mitts. Imo, favors should cost them not us. |

I like Point, but the amount of moves we'd have to make to fit Point and a cap dump under our cap is hard to imagine. A week from now, we may find ourselves over the cap. Not that it's going to hard to manage, but it is a factor in any potential deal.

Did Fitz really challenge someone to a fight? Fitz nobody under 5’2” should be challenging strangers to fights. |

My thing revolves around helping a division foe out of their cap crunch. The onus is on them to make it work. |

If they want to move someone similar to JT Miller, I'd take Yanni Gourde as a cap casualty if he came cheap. Can play all 3 positions, can work as a 2C or 3C. His NTC kicked in July 1, though, so that ship has probably sailed.
Botterill upgraded the lineup with the additions of Vesey and Marcus Johansson up front as well as adding defenseman Colin Miller this off season but there's plenty of work to be done with a roster that still has gaping holes.
Good luck, Mr. Krueger |

I want to get out of the business of taking bad cap entirely.

Me too. Doesn't Buffalo have enough of their own? However, if the Sabres do something like that, I won't be putting Mitts or a top prospect in the deal |

I'd go with a 4th and Pekar, which is my new version of 2018's "McCabe + 32" or 2019's "McCabe + 31"

Pekar sounds like someone we could use on our 4th line right now. I know he will be in Roch this year, but im really looking forward to having an agitator on this team again.

That's why it's fun to throw him in imaginary trades: people actually care about him.
Gourde? Pekar and a 4th
Kempe? That's Pekar and a 2nd
Grabner? Hell yeah, Pekar and a 7th. |

Will be interesting to watch him in camp, but I think it's more likely that his ELC will slide a year (meaning 9 of less NHL games). Is Roch best for him? It's a tough league for a 19 year old. |

Im all about proper development. If he ends up back in the OHL, so be it.
