Marner is the better offensive talent than Eichel to this point. That is debatable though. Jt has helped. But a 1C is coveted over a wing. Some teams may take Marner over Eichel in a redraft, but only if there's a 1C on the team.
The Sabres wouldn't take marner in a redraft for that reason (if that's the exercise). |

It is completely idiotic for someone to draft marner over eichel. Marner has played on better team has played against 2nd and 3rd lines because Mathews gets top defensive lines. Meanwhile eichel had 84 points on terrible team and his line was the only offensive threat. He also center and never had Tavares to carry his line. Only leaf biasis fan boy or someone looking for clicks would take marner over eichel. |

Boston (frank)ed up. - wingz4life
They had their team set and screwed it up so bad. 3 straight early picks in a historically deep draft. |

Holy poop that was one helluva draft year.
You could move players up and down that list a bit and make a good argument.
I think Strome is too high. |

Swords had three firsts that year, their gm traded two away for nothing. Now their fans wanna fire the current gm because he can't fix that mess in two years.
Marner is special, but I'd take Eichel, Barzal, and Rantanen before him.. |

Let's not forget, many, many non-Leaf fans think Marner is better than Matthews. I hear it daily. |

What hate? All those guys play against the other teams top line. The top 3 guys are centers. They all played for crappie teams and were the only actually really good players in their teams, except McDavid cuz draisaitlbut he's generational so there's that. |

I think people don't realize he had 51 points in 58 games on the 2nd line in Chicago

Not sure how I'd be "looking for clicks" when I didn't even advertise having Marner over Eichel |

I knew he did well. albeit not that well. still what, 75 pt pace? Petty damn good, but that is a really good draft class. |

I think you have Provorov too low based on 1 bad year, but it's still fair. Great draft year overall, though. |

Given the sample size, one bad year is a fair portion of his career. He'll have some time to move up that list |

I agree. But he's been playing top-pair minutes (first year paired with Andrew #Corsi MacDonald) basically since day 1. Second season he tied for the league lead in goals by a defenseman. Yes, last year was a bad year, no doubt. Like I said, it's fair, I just think it was an abberation. But really, 11-20 you could make a case for anyone of them. |

Kyle Connor should not be ahead of Provorov on anyone's list. The Flyers would hang up the phone immediately if WPG offered us Connor for Provy. |

Back to back 30+ goal seasons... I am pretty sure they would listen. |
